The estranged husband of Johnny Weir has said that he still loves the figure skater, but that he is ‘conniving’.

Weir announced he had split from husband Victor Voronov after three years of marriage in March.

Voronov, a law graduate, had married Weir in December 2011, and despite reports suggesting the pair may have reconciled last week, Weir confirmed it “was for not”, and they were still separated.

Voronov spoke to Inside Edition today, the first time he has given an interview since the split.

He said: “There’re a lot of emotions that I feel right now.

“I feel betrayed, heartbroken, shocked.

“I will always love him. Yes, I love him.

“What he’s done to me is unforgivable, it is the most conniving behaviour I’ve ever seen, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that I love him.

“I was blinded by fear. The thing is, love and fear go hand in hand.”

Weir said last month: “With great sadness… I announce that my husband [Victor Weir-Voronov] and I are no longer together.

“My heart hurts and I wish him well.”

Weir in December faced criticism from some LGBT campaigners in the US who accused him of turning a blind eye to LGBT persecution in Russia.

He announced his retirement from skating in October
