X Factor boy band Union J will headline this year’s Pride Cymru, it has been announced.

The LGBT festival is taking place at Cardiff’s Coopers Field on Saturday 16 August.

A spokesperson for Pride Cymru said: “It was at the very heart of Cardiff, in December 2012, that the X Factor finalists first announced they had signed a Sony record deal, whilst performing at Wales’ well-known LGBT venue Pulse. It will be nice to see the boys back in Wales again.”

“The girls and boys are going to love these handsome rogues. We’re so proud to have them performing at Pride Cymru this year.”

Union J star Jaymi Hensley came out as gay during his time on X Factor in November 2012.

The band are currently working on their second album, due for release this year
