US: Federal court to hear challenge against Oregon’s same-sex marriage ban

  • Cal

When this equal marriage issue has settled down and everyone stops being hysterical about it can someone please add up how many millions of dollars of public and private money bigots have wasted on their attempts at persecution. The final figure will be shocking.

  • Maryland Kid

This is inaccurate. The case is being heard by a Federal District Court, not a Federal Court of Appeals.

    • Aron Sasportas

You’re right. It’s the United States District Court for the District of Oregon.

Oregon’s ban on same-gender marriage was largely eviscerated in October 2013, when its government decided to recognize same-gender marriages legally performed elsewhere.

For details, see “Report 4 – Oregon’s ban on same-gender marriage is now so easily
circumvented that same-gender couples residing in the state may, with
just a bit of inconvenience, contract a civil marriage that the state
will recognize” in “Equal Human Rights and Civil Rights for All Persons, No Matter Their Gender, No Matter Their Sexual Orientation: A Newsletter” (www.humciv.com).
