UK: Artist creates Tom Daley portrait out of homophobic tweets
An artist has created a portrait of Tom Daley, made up of homophobic tweets sent to the Olympic diver after he came out last year.
Manchester-based artist Conor Collins unveiled the homage to the Splash host on Thursday, saying: “My finished portrait of Tom Daley, made out of the homophobic tweets sent to him when he came out.”

In December last year, Daley revealed in a YouTube video that he was in a long-term relationship with a man, who he later confirmed was Milk screenwriter Dustin Lance Black.
Despite an overwhelmingly positive response to the announcement, Daley and later Black were subjected to a barrage of anti-gay abuse online, which Collins has attempted to turn into a piece of art.
It mirrors a work of art released earlier this month by American cracker manufacturer Honey Maid, who turned homophobic feedback to their advert featuring same-sex partners into a sculpture that spelled the word ‘Love’.
