Linda Harvey: Young gay people should stay closeted until they can become straight

  • Meri Justus

This woman needs to get a life. she thinks more about the LGBT community then we do, and to come up with these stupid comments, must take a lot of thinking, my brain hurts every time, I read what she has come up with.

    • Never mind a life. She needs to get an education!

      • Thom Allen

You’re assuming that she can be educated.

      • gutaitas

        Or get properly laid.

  • Ali Cat

So she’s making money by writing a book about gay people, she’s giving advice about how (not) to come out, what exactly makes her think she’s qualified to do any of this? How the flipping heck does this woman know what it’s like to come out, or what it would be like to have to hide her sexuality or deny who she was? I’m an atheist, I’m going to write a book called ‘How To Be A Good Christian’, maybe she could read it because I really don’t think the old hag has actually read the bible.

  • clm1990

Linda should stay in the asylum until she becomes sane

  • Dennis

There’s must be someone in Ohio, with a broom that ….can be used against Linda Harvey!!!

    • Steven Gregory

I think she’d go down if someone pitched a bucket of water on her.

  • Marc Webster

She really is one of the most stupidest people on the planet….surely there can’t be anybody that believes her or takes her seriously?…..oh yes sadly

  • Derek Northcote

I really wish that Pink News would stop giving this small town US radio goon the air of publicity.

Being gay and attempting to Live in UK society is hard enough without the constant BAD NEWS from religiously raddled goons you so readily supply.

    • VP

You do realise that most of the photographs on the internet aren’t in the public domain, and borrowing them to use yourself requires paying royalties to the owner or facing legal proceedings? Private individuals can usually get away with it, but a company like Pink News certainly can’t.

      • Badger

Actually the law on that varies from Country to Country. In the UK a picture of someone can be used for any purpose except in the attempt to make money. With or without the subjects permission. I see no reason why the often backwards laws of America would be any different.

        • Pádráig O’Gáirmléadháigh

Laws, if they can be called laws, in America only apply to the poor and working class. The rich can do what ever they like….

    • Pádráig O’Gáirmléadháigh

…I agree and I think we should tell Pink News that the next time a story about this evil woman comes up, put it in the Bin or else we will abandon you .I already use an ad blocker for the site and i will abandon it altogether if this continues. We don’t need to keep hearing of this small town bigot from the boon docks in the US every bloody day Stop It NOW!!!

  • Jones

How do you explain people coming out at 60 then?

  • NigFagNow

All I get from stories like this is how thankful I am to have been born in the UK. Sure, the country has it’s problems but I think I’ve just glanced over seven or eight horrendous and upsetting stories on this site about insane religious people in America using God as an excuse to victimise and judge others. My own family go to church every week and, funnily enough, they still see me as ‘human’. Bore off, Linda.

    • Midnighter

Indeed. My Christian boss was greatly looking forward to attending her first same sex wedding for a couple of guys she’s obviously very fond of. Linda will probably tell us she’s not a “true” Christian (which I suspect would come as a surprise to my boss’ father, a reverend and member of a strongly devout family originally from Barbados!).

  • David silverman

Linda, your parents shouldn’t have been involved in sexual relations, but human nature being what it is….

    • Steven Gregory

I think she is the product of artificial insemination by a rancher with a long rubber glove.

      • David Anthony Neal

I vote for the petri dish in the lab explanation for her existence.

  • Simon

When will she just shut up and crawl back into her hole? She’s got a real vendetta against the LGBT community for no real reason. I despise the stupid cow.

  • Rumbelow

Homophobes like Linda Harvey are not normal, repeat offenders like her spreading dangerous misinformation and lies should be prosecuted and placed on a register and carefully monitored. She probably really requires incarceration in a secure establishment for her own safety and for the safety of the public, it’s tragic really and so many like her too, the casualties of religion corrupted and gone bad.

    • kane

what she say is perfectly legal. i suggest you familiarise yourself with the first amendment to the united states constitution.

      • David Anthony Neal

Actually, I suggest you familiarize yourself with the 1st Amendment. The 1st Amendment is against government efforts to deny free speech and expression. I don’t see any government action here at all, do you?

        • kane

err, can you read with understanding?

          • David Anthony Neal

Sir, when you have spent years in law school (concentrating on United States Constitutional Law) and 30 years practicing law in the United States as I have, then I will take legal advice from you. Till then, stick to what you know.

          • kane

‘… I don’t see any government action here at all, do you?…’

i havent claimed nor suggested that it did. in fact i havent even mentioned government at all.

all i said was she was within her legal rights to say what she said. one’s right to religion and free speech, such fine combination guaranteed by 1 amendment, allows the likes of linda to say any offensive cr@p without any consequences as long it is backed up by religious convictions.

sir, even with your three decades in legal profession i would seriously hesitate to take any advice from you

  • Barry Scarfe

There is a huge number of truely insane religious nut jobs in the US of A. I find it disturbing to note that country is the world’s only remaining superpower and is armed to the teeth with hundreds of nuclear weapons.

God help us (not that I am religiously inclined) if a member of the Tea Party or some other goon squad with these kind of views should ever be elected as the President.

  • Bikerman

That is a is a face made for radio

  • jlvnv

If she were my age, it would be easy to dismiss her rantings as the after effect of having messed with too many strong drugs during the 60s and 70s. Since she’s not that old, we just have to accept that she is a mean-spirited, nasty, evil, vile, dangerous, hateful, bigoted, ignorant, intolerant, self-aggrandizing, self-righteous christian.

Damn. Where are the lions and gladiators when we need them the most?

  • John Thomas

  • Jimmy Emerson

OK, now, I am probably one of the gayest of gay people ever. I don’t agree with everything this woman says, however the part about young people storming out of the house because parents won’t accept their sexuality right away does strike a cord. Once a young person takes a stand on being gay and tells the world, they really don’t have any recourse except to stick by it. Young people are suppose to ‘explore’ their sexuality…this is where they decide if they like men, women, big men, big women, big boobs, big butts, hairy guys, short guys, long haired women, petite women, or in some cases all the above. Just be SURE of what you are before you demand that everyone accepts you. Love is truly the answer.

    • raytheist

I would guess there are fewer kids “storming out” than there are parents throwing their kids to the street.

  • tedhayes

Linda Harvey needs to shift her brain into gear before she presses on the accelerator that puts her tongue in action.

  • 24/7Top

Obviously needs to crawl back under the rock she crawled out from.

  • p

This woman is seriously sick in the head, cruel evil woman.

  • Sharon

Stop feeding the troll. You are going to make a celebrity out of her like our community did out of the Westboro Baptish church and gave them attention they could only have dreamed of.

    • Liam

Yeah, that’s the idea. Who wants to be bedfellows with these loonies?

  • Keith Patrick Murphy

Does this foolish woman not realise that Exudes International closed down?

  • Callum McLean

Homophobic straight people should stay out of the media until they have something useful to say.

    • That’s the problem – they think they do…

CHRISTIANS should stay in the closet………. PERIOD!!!!!!!

    • ThetruthshaIIsetyoufree

Sorry, but this is a Christian country founded on Christian beliefs. If you don’t like it, you just need to look the other way.

      • Jason Carr

NO, it’s actually not. Nice try.

        • ThetruthshaIIsetyoufree

Yes it is. Everyone knows that. The proof is in the history. Anyone can find it. Only deniers, or liars would say otherwise. Which one are you?

          • Rodney Barnes

No, it isn’t. The founders agreed it was the best model for founding a country but just as there are numerous quotes from them saying they are religious, there are numerous quotes of them saying they despise religion. The Jeffersonian Bible being the best example. Furthermore, if you look at Iran, I’m disinclined to believe that laws based on any holy text is a march in any positive direction. FFS, it took a secular government to keep the religious from burning people at the stake for witchcraft. Give me a break.

          • Steven Gregory

Thetruthblather is a TROLL in the most classic sense, keeps posting the same crap again and again.

          • saintlaw

Srsly kill yourself – there’s all sorts of ways you can do it.

          • Jock S.Trap

Think you answered your own question/theory when you said ‘History’

          • Jock S.Trap

Think you answered ya own question really when you start talking about ‘history’ coz that where it’s going and should be… confined to history.

          • Erica Salcuni

Um. I think you are just an internet troll that pretends you are at the extreme end of an unpopular viewpoint just to ruffle everyone else’s feathers. The angrier people get at you, the more fun you have. Either that, or you really believe what you are saying. In that case, I’m with saintlaw. Definitely kill yourself.

          • shmaesh

Only people who don’t know their history say this is a Christian country.
This is a country largely founded by Christian people, but our Founders were deists. Not Christians.

      • Spartacus Ulrich

        Not in the slightest.

        • ThetruthshaIIsetyoufree

Yes it is. Everyone knows it is.

          • saintlaw

It’s never too late to kill yourself.

          • Steven Gregory

May you receive 10 sexual favors!

          • Odd Jørgensen

            you sir,are an idiot.

          • Radgal

You moron. The USA is a multi-ethic, multi-cultural society that has many religions, no just Christianity. Many people are also atheists. The Founding Fathers were quite clear about having a separation of church and state. Maybe you should try reading the 1st Amendment to the Constitution. It’s only ignorant people like you who would dare say anything as ridiculous as saying we’re a “Christian nation”. It’s just not so and it doesn’t matter how many times you repeat your lie, it’s still a LIE.

        • kane

im not so sure. have you seen a dollar bill (in god we trust) or read the u.s constitution, especially first amendment? one’s right to religion and free speech, such fine combination that allows the likes of linda to say any offensive cr@p without any consequences as long it is backed up by religious convictions. and lets not forget that compulsory presidential ‘alla akbar’, ‘god bless america’. it would be foolish to dismiss notion that america is religious country

      • kane

despite allowing citizens to freely practice any religion the first amendment (amendment I) to the united states constitution prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion

      • saintlaw

        You should kill yourself.

      • America is NOT a “Christian country”. End of discussion.

      • Frank Boulton

Well, Thetruthshallsetyoufree, are the Native Americans aware that they founded a Christian country based on Christian beliefs?

      • Karyl L. Lounsbery

From the 1797 Treaty of Tripoli, Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

      • David Anthony Neal

Actually, No. The country was not founded on Christian beliefs. It was founded on beliefs sprung from the Enlightenment. If you know anything about Thomas Jefferson, just one of the founding fathers, you would know that he was not what would pass for a Christian today. He did not believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ and for him, as with many of his peers, he found much of the Christian bible to be mere superstition and Jewish folklore. Even George Washington was only an infrequent attender of Church (Episcopal at that). Back to Jefferson–he was the author of the Virginia Declaration of Religious Freedom which was the precursor to the notion of separation of church and state. Interestingly enough, the Baptist churches in Virginia were the primary proponents of the original notion of the separation of church and state in the VA Declaration. Many colonists came to America to escape religious persecution.
But colonies soon adopted laws that limited religious freedom and forced
to people to pay taxes to support churches they did not believe in.
Dissenters started protesting to abolish those laws. An important change
came in 1786 when Virginia passed the Statute for Religious Freedom.
Drafted by Thomas Jefferson, the new law served as a model for the First
Amendment. It established a clear separation of church and state and
was one of Jefferson’s proudest accomplishments.

      • Steven Gregory

You keep posting that bu||sh!t, but you know it’s a lie: this nation was founded to GET AWAY from religious rule.

      • Odd Jørgensen

you need to read some history on the founding of the nation, such as the treaty of tripoli, where it clearly states that the U.S is NOT in any way founded on the christian faith.

  • Steven Gregory

She should be sewn shut until she can become sexy.

    • ThetruthshaIIsetyoufree

      Very classy comment.

      • saintlaw

        Have you considered killing yourself?

      • Steven Gregory

If you kill yourself, I promise to feel terrible… for a few minutes.

  • ngblog

No, what this woman needs is to be tongue lashed to within an inch of her life. Surely, there must be some bisexual or lesbian out there who would want to tap that and take one for the team.

    Anyone, anyone?

  • St Sebastian, the Humanist

…. and you should stay silent until you have something intelligent to say. I’m expecting a long silence Linda, but would be happy if you find something intelligent to say in the near future. My natural optimism is however tempered be realism.

  • David Anthony Neal

The old worn out adage that you can’t fix stupid finds new traction with her.

    • Bobby

      @David Anthony Neal – You’re beautiful; can I have a bear hug?

      • David Anthony Neal

        • Steven Gregory

Do you have any extra bear hugs? I’ll trade you a neck nuzzle.

          • David Anthony Neal

I love neck nuzzles. I will trade you ten bear hugs for ten neck nuzzles.

          • Steven Gregory

It’s a deal! If your neck gets too nuzzled, you can spread them out…

          • David Anthony Neal

I don’t think my neck has ever been too nuzzled, but then again, I’ve never been nuzzled by you. And, you’ve never been bear hugged by me so I will start the ten bear hugs on low intensity and build up to oxygen deprivation at number 9.

          • Steven Gregory

McSwoon! I would love to let this wretch know that her article led to gay flirtation, that would cause enough gas to blow her head out of her ass.

          • David Anthony Neal

Wait til she finds out what happens at Bear Hug # 10. Her head will go supernova..

        • Kala

This…WHOLE exchange here…made my freekin day. You two are so awesome @davidanthonyneal:disqus and @disqus_HCNicr8T8y:disqus.

  • Proud Bisexual

People like her disgust me. What right does she have to claim anything. Has she ever come out. NO! I hope someone burns the Witch.

  • saintlaw

The only time I hear about this batshit hag is on the pages of Linda Harvey News.

Oh! It says Pink – Pink News. How odd.

  • Barbara Kelly

Linda needs to get a life god she makes me so angry I never say hate but I hate wat comes out of her useless gob

  • How can you even get stuff like this in your head in the first place? I mean you have to have a very curious set of mind to be able to think this – to actually believe all this – and still be able to smile and to consider yourself a good person. I seriously don’t know how that’s possible.

  • That There Other David

This woman is quite unashamedly evil.

  • Frank Boulton

“Young gay people should stay closeted until they can become straight” makes as much sense as any other religious teaching. What Linda Harvey has said amounts to: “It’s only OK for young people to tell their friends and families that they’re gay, when they’re not gay any more.” Christians must be so intelligent, because I can’t get my godless brain around all of these paradoxes.

  • Eugene

Staying in the closet for more than thirty years really worked for me. Now I only ogle some men (but still no women). Perhaps I should have given it two more weeks.

  • Daniel

Hmmm so she’s making money by writing a book about a topic that she has no experience of; and has only professed opinions of hatred and homophobia. Yes.. that’s an empirically based scientific book then.

  • James Campbell

And I suggest that she (and other bigoted idiots) stay indoors (in a padded room) and refrain from writing such drivel.

  • Rob Oakes

In that case shouldn’t ‘straight’ people be out of the closet until they have a girlfriend/boyfriend?

  • Aleksander Aarnes

Wow, people like her should be locked up! She is a danger to society, and I can’t believe that her “advice” is not illegal conduct! A shame really, this is not why Free Speech exists.

  • Helge Vladimir Tiller

This Linda does not deserve more space in any publication. She is not worthy getting a single word or comment. Not even a bad one-

  • lee

love the hoop earings dear so chivy

  • Erica

I was sort of hoping there would be some petition to sign at the end of this article like, “sign if you would like to keep this yahoo from ever speaking publicly about anything, ever again”. Of course that would be a violation of the first amendment…but yikes. it is really scary to see how stupid people are, and even scarier to see that they are granted access to the airwaves. I feel bad for intelligent, open-minded Christians that are just trying to mind their own business and practice their faith. The reputation of your faith has been destroyed by bigots and idiots like this woman. Quite disgusting.

  • Christopher in Canada

And religious people should allow their children to grow up without influence, and WITHOUT having any part of their bodies docked until they choose their religion (if any) for themselves.

  • SeanR

Why are you even publishing what this woman says? It’s not even a stable viewpoint, she’s mad.

  • Darzan

WOW! She’s got such a marvelous and amazing grasp on life. I think she should kill herself because she’s taking up too much space on this Planet! With her Stupidity…Dreadful C***T…..
