South Africa: Teens watch as gay man is beaten, murdered and set on fire

  • Truth

Nelson Mandela was right to fear what would happen in South Africa after his death. The rot is already well established in Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe ……

    • anti-communist

Nelson Mandela wasn’t right, he was plain wrong. He was the cause, not the solution of the problem. Political africanisation leads to this. Only brain-damaged people and leftists (there are both the same) never realize it. The right politician was Margaret Thatcher.

      • gutaitas

Belittling those whose ideas you disagree with, particularly using derogatory allusions to mental illness, says more about you than anything else that you may write. I would suggest taking a look at this Argument Pyramid and realising that unless your head is above water (i.e. #3 on the Pyramid), you are contributing little to nothing to the debate.

        • anti-comunist

What I stated is not belittling, but a fact. Not politically correct, may be not polite, but a fact. If the west and the world move leftwards, decay is imminent, and things like this will happen. Just like I stated political africanisation leads to this. As for the pyramid, you can take it, well you know where.

          • gutaitas

            I rest my case.

          • ChrisInLA

Thatcher’s policies are what has turned our world into a dung heap. Not all of us are happy with that. If she were still with us and in power, our economy would have driven us into a major war as the only known means of survival.

          • anti-communist

Rubbish. Typical leftist rubbish. Thatcher took a country that was headed to the third world and made great again along with competitive and modern economy and more stable society. Her foreign policy lead to the liberation of tens of countries of the tyranny of the communism, and she remains great and admired figure all over the world. But leftists are brain damaged, there are incapable of logical thought. To put more precisely in the words of the iron lady – “there in no right and left, there is just right and wrong.

  • JD

Africa the country where scum grow up

    • Jesus_Mohammed

Not everyone in Africa is scum, JD. For example, think of all your persecuted LGBTs brothers and sisters suffering in Africa.

      • Chris

Yes, a lot of people suffering in SA because of stupid religious believes

    • James!

      Is Desmond Tutu scum?

      • Chris

Well Desmond might be one of the very few in SA who has any standard. Just look at the current ANC government and give me anybody with good standards!!!

  • http://www.bloketoys.co.uk/ BlokeToys.co.uk

It’s shocking to think that things like this are still happening in 2014, it proves again that there is a lot more that needs to be done all over the world.

I wonder how long it’ll be before we hear about this nutters religious beliefs.

Every day I’m reminded more and more of why I am a Humanist. While it won’t happen in my lifetime, I long to see all the religious cults destroyed. The plague of religious insanity has damaged societies enough, it’s time we got rid of all this voodoo.

    • Jesus_Mohammed

Indeed. Which is why we atheists/rationalists/humanists/secularists must keep speaking out, and loudly. Otherwise those cults will only continue. We have to fight them with as much zeal as their adherents daily seek to spread their nonsense. Islam and Christianity are the two I’m focussing on.

  • sarah greene

what is wrong with the South African blacks they seem to relish in the killing and setting fire to people, they have no empathy or morals. This kind of killing happens no where else necklacing and setting people alight you are a disgusting excuse for humanity

    • James!

It seems they were white as they were shouting Afrikaans at the time. Also Alek de kolkka killed a gay guy at his training camp in South Africa. Also white you filthy racist pig

      • sarah greene

not racist what about the 9 yr old girl raped and let alight what about all the necklacing that goes on in the so called vigilante attacks and the blacks speak Affricaans also and I don’t think there are many whites that would be in a township kicking and tying up a black person , what evidence do you have that they were white the guy arrested was calling the victim a slang name the blacks use for gay,

        • James!

You seem to think only black people behave badly. Ergo racist and obviously an idiot

          • Chris

Well James! with ! makr, call me a racist or what ever you will, Blacks also speak Afrikaans, so dont come with your ignorance! And I agree 100% with Sarah. What sort of a nation sets their own people alight? Oh yes, black people do! And I hope I’ve used enought ! now, because I do have a few !!!!! left

          • sarah greene

NO I don’t think only black people behave badly but setting people alight is particular to the township blacks in South Africa I live there its in the news every other day, and how can I be racist if I care about the people they do this to as they are also Black, Idiot!

    • coloured_south_african

the white’s can’t be bothered to make a fire… they just drag people behind their trucks….
really mature using the race argument….

      • sarah greene

I am not making it a race thing you are, and the people that dragged that guy behind their truck were black police officers. You seems to be forgetting about the victims of these savage crimes got forbid we offend the perpetrators by saying it like it is

        • coloured_south_african

          http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/News/Man-stripped-dragged-behind-bakkie-20100928

clearly you’re wearing your rose tinted lenses again dear….
it happens across all colour lines both white and black being equally guilty of these atrocities but you seem to be fixated on the black perpetrators only…. which is what i was trying to point out…

          • sarah greene

And I am pointing out that necklaceing and setting people alight is particular to the black townships of South Africa NOT ALL OF Africa!! which is what the newspaper article is about, setting people alight for no reason other than their own homophobia and racist views, we all know that atrocities happen everywhere but I am not commenting about everywhere I am commenting on this particular article.

  • Jesus_Mohammed

I can believe it. See the photograph that came out of Africa a while back. I don’t know why the victim was lynched, but lynched and burnt alive he was. Parts of Africa have a great deal of growing up to.

    • Christopher in Canada

This is a pic I could have gone without seeing, but then I thought, not many generations ago, children would watch a hanging, and humans would hang for days from tree branches in parts of the US… I could say that only humans do this to their own species, but alas, many higher mammals also eat their young or the young of others of their own species (I’m thinking polar and grizzy bears, chimps, felines…)
To quote Temple Grandin, Nature is cruel, but we don’t have to be. I hope that someone teaches these children that what happened that day was a horrible crime…
As far as the subject of the story we are commenting on, I’m sure the kids were shocked and somehow thrilled to be part of a mob, led by an adult, who was teaching them that it was somehow ok to bash someone’s head in and set him on fire… what a shame.
Glad to be Canadian, and glad to be so far removed from this reality. And this is from a man who grew up on a beef farm and saw IT ALL, as far as animals are concerned, at least.

    • Chris

burning of people or necklasing was done from the early 1970 already. You dont want to fight the government, well then we will burn you, this was dont byt then new and current government the ANC. So for black people to burn another black person is no big deal in SA.

  • Homo Demon

Why is it racist to raise the issue of ‘race’?

Lynching and burnings in south Africa is pretty much a black issue. And (shock, horror!) black Africans can be fairly racist. Let’s not pussy foot around here.

Unless it is highlighted as an issue, then it cannot be targeted as an issue.
