US: Teacher’s Facebook rant comparing gay-straight alliance to ‘deer poaching’ under investigation
A bizarre Facebook rant in which a teacher compared a gay-straight alliance starting at his school to a ‘street racing’ or ‘deer poaching’ club is under investigation.
According to the Parkersburg News and Sentinel, Wood County Schools in West Virginia are investigating the post, in which science teacher David Foggins also compared the GSA to a drug addicts club
Posting a picture of the club’s flier on Friday, the Parkersburg South High School teacher wrote: “Club meeting at PSHS!! Rally around them and show ur support. We are also considering a drunks-t totaller club, drugged/sober club, smokeless tobacco vs smokes club, street racing, and deer poaching clubs. Please donate and support us. Thank u!!! I think I hear the drag already zinging.”
In a short statement released yesterday, Superintendent Pat Law said the incident was being looked into.
He said: “The situation is under investigation and therefore we can not comment further at this time”.
Foggin told the News and Sentinel: “I just can’t comment right now.”
