South Carolina hopeful Dave Feliciano has labelled the current GOP Senator Lindsey Graham “ambiguously gay” as part of his campaign for the senate seat.

In an attack against Graham’s service to constituents, Feliciano said: “It’s about time that South Carolina [says], ‘Hey, we’re tired of the ambiguously gay senator from South Carolina. We’re ready for a new leader to merge the Republican Party.'”

Feliciano is one of four South Carolina Republicans running against Graham in Republican senate primaries.

“This is what it’s about,” he added. “all of us coming together and saying, one way or the other, one of us is going to be on that ballot in November.”

Last year, the former executive director of the South Carolina Republican Party used his Twitter account to post anti-trans slurs, including that trans people “should all be put in a camp”, because they are “sick freaks”.
