Video: US pastor claims gay marriage is ‘an absurdity’ and fasting will save gays from hell

  • That There Other David

“Father Gruner responds to say that gays believe in “mystical nonsense”, to which Vennari states that “militant homosexuals push their lifestyle in our face and insist ‘you will accept this’.”

    Are they having a laugh?

    • Rehan

I hope for their sakes they are, because I for one am having trouble even raising a ghost of a smile for this sort of tedious, ignorant bollocks!

  • Beelzeebub

    Love it.

The more they open their mouths the stupider they look.

Just keep driving that wedge in Fathers, its working well on our behalf.

A paradox = A priest talking about someone else who believes in mystical ‘nonsense’ and saying he doesn’t. /// If Vennari was fighting for something he believed in and was being discrimminated would he call his actions as being too much in somebidy’s face. He would probably think it was necessary. What he is doing, simlpy, is telling gay people to get out of his ignorant face.

I don’t want to go to heavens with such guys!
Better hell with all my friends…

  • CHBrighton

Men who have filled their heads with ignorance and are now so stuck with it that they no notion of their own stupidity and inhumanity. F**k ’em!

  • Lee W Dalgleish

I should really watch before commenting but the quotes already speak volumes… The irony of them accusing gay people of believing in “mystical nonsense”.. Hello Pot meet Kettle… The only thing gay people believe in or want is equality! That’s all we want. We don’t shove our “lifestyles” in anyone’s face! Why is it the minute we show any indication of our sexuality, we are told we are “flaunting our lifestyle”?
If I want to hold my partner’s hand in public, I’ll do just that. If I want to hug him or kiss him on the cheek I’ll do that too. Gay people don’t go around complaining of straight people flaunting their “straightness” in public.
Don’t even get me started on the whole “lifestyle” thing either. It’s so frustrating but I suppose the positive thing is that these idiots make themselves so well known thanks to the internet and social apps etc. These sort of people harp on about how they are discriminated against.. That’s despite the fact they would happily trample all over our rights, our happiness and any chance of equality. As a rule I don’t have an issue with religion BUT these right wing/hardcore types just make me wish religion would just die off… What happened to love thy neighbour etc? I was brought up CofE and taught at school about love, forgiveness & respect… Not to go around attacking people for who they love, not for condemning them or vilifying them.

I wonder if this old virgin bigot, Mr Gruner, has addressed the wholesale rape of the worlds children by the clergy of the Roman Catholic Paedophile club?. He also seems to think that the only people getting married are breeders of breeding age.
“Mystical Nonsense” has got to be the stupidest comment ever from someone who obviously has no idea of irony. Gruners entire life is centred around “mystical nonsense….”

Thousands of old people get married every year and they have zero prospects of producing children as well as breeders who don’t want children or breeders who are barren. Should all those people come under this old bigots umbrella of Non marriage.
These people have no shame or they would never appear in front of a camera…..Oh and one more thing.. Marriage existed for tens of thousands of years before uneducated desert goat herders thought up the idea of sky fairy’s or deities..
He should educate himself before opening his mouth and confirming he is an idiot….!!!

If someone reported to a psychiatrist saying they believed their life was controlled by a mystical being who rules everything in the universe, they’d probably be sectioned. However, if you say the same thing while wearing silly clothes and a big hat, you get deference and protection under the law. Isn’t it time we stopped having to tolerate this childish nonsense? Organised religion was established to control the ignorant. We’ve moved on. The days of religion dictating to all how lives should be lived are over. These people need to get a life … in the real world.

  • George Broadhead

Father Gruner and John Vennari are of course Roman Catholics and their views are based on the RC Catechism (official policy document) which states:

“Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity [Cf. Gen 19:1-29; Rom 1:24-27; 1 Cor 6:10; 1 Tim 1:10], tradition has always declared that homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.”

    • Ray123

There are numerous prohibitions in the bible which are routinely ignored by the devout let alone anyone else. Yet they continue to obsess about homosexuality?

    • Davexyz

There are numerous prohibitions in the bible most of which are ignored even by the faithful. But they obsess about homosexuality is if hate was the main biblical theme to be followed at all costs.

    • Guest

There are many prohibitions and laws in the Bible which if followed would take us back centuries.

  • Julian Clark

If there is a hell and all gay people go there at least we´ll be with friends!

  • Mark Y

Was this filmed in a mental asylum?

I love PinkNews, but I can’t help wondering if publicising the views of these fringe-dwelling nut jobs doesn’t run the risk of giving them a public profile their views don’t merit (like, for example, climate change sceptics), and re-traumatising vulnerable LGBTI people who have already suffered enough. Do we really need to hear about this stuff? Or if you feel you must run it, could we have an equal number of stories about the people of faith who quietly support LGBTI people in a million ways? Australian research shows same-sex attracted young people in homophobic churches have higher rates of suicide, self-harm and substance abuse. If our media only reports these extreme, bigoted views, aren’t we in danger of increasing their feelings of alienation and guilt?

    • Frank Boulton

It’s very important that these lunatic ramblings be reported in the gay media. We need to counter these assertions with rational arguments, in order to demonstrate how ridiculous they are. There are people, who are listen to this drivel, and so we need to provide counterarguments. The only way to help vulnerable LGBTI people in the grip of such pernicious beliefs is to report such lunacy and to show through reason that that is just what it is. It is our ethical responsibility not to let the lives and wellbeing of vulnerable young people be destroyed or damaged by this superstitious nonsense.

  • Jon (Malaysia)

This man, The Fatima Center, and all religion for that matter, is about as relevant to the 21st century as a fart is to a Canadian blizzard.

  • Steven Gregory

Panicking old farts underscoring the idiocy of religion.

  • (HRH) Liz F Obisanya

Actually Jesus is the one that will save Gays Lesbians & Trans folk from Hell – if they accept Him as Lord and Saviour – He died for us to be who we are (queer )and to make Heaven. True the ban that was on us He took away and paid the penalty then re designed the system . No lie.
