Pet Shop Boys use Panti Bliss speech as new gay rights track
Pet Shop Boys have recorded a new song based on a speech made by Irish drag artist Panti Bliss.
She became a YouTube sensation over her appeal for an end to homophobia in Ireland.
Bliss tweeted: “Pet Shop Boys made an amazing track out of my Noble Call speech. Seriously, they did.”
On Saturday, Pet Shop Boys posted new song ‘The Best Gay Possible’ on their website. It features all 10 minutes of Bliss’ speech set to a trance track.
Rory O’Neill, whose alter ego is Panti Bliss, was the subject of a huge political storm after she accused a Catholic group of being “homophobes” on a TV show in February, because they oppose equal marriage.
Madonna, Stephen Fry and Graham Norton were among those to send message of support to Panti.
