Gay NFL hopeful Michael Sam releases rainbow range of #StandWithSam t-shirts

Recently out gay NFL hopeful Michael Sam has announced a new range of clothing and accessories featuring rainbow logos and ‘Stand with Sam’, and ‘SamStrong’ slogans.

Michael Sam, a University of Missouri football player came out in an ESPN interview on 9 February.

He has since said that he hopes that he would soon be able to move on from the attention gathered since coming out.

Sam took to Twitter at the weekend to announce, and promote, the new lines of t-shirts and badges, which all feature the slogans, and some which feature rainbow designs.

He tweeted: “Hey Guys, #StandWithSam and #SamStrong gear is finally available at https://michaelsam.com/shop/”

First Lady Michelle Obama tweeted after he came out to say she was “proud” of Sam’s achievements both on and off the field.

The NFL released a statement saying: “We admire Michael Sam’s honesty and courage. Michael is a football player. Any player with ability and determination can succeed in the NFL. We look forward to welcoming and supporting Michael Sam in 2014.”
