Police have launched an appeal for information over an alleged homophobic attack on a student in Lancashire.
Lancashire Constabulary are investigating the incident that is believed to have taken place in the Church Street area of Preston around 3.30am on Wednesday 26 February.
The 18-year-old victim, who is from Blackpool but was on a night out with friends in Preston, was assaulted as he left the Evoke nightclub.
A police spokesperson told PinkNews.co.uk: “This was a nasty and seemingly unprovoked assault and we are investigating the possibility that this was a homophobic crime. We treat all incidents of this nature very seriously and a further statement is currently being obtained from the victim.”
An investigation is underway and police are appealing to anybody that witnessed the assault to contact them on 101 quoting log reference 0844.
In a separate development on Friday, the British Army confirmed to PinkNews that it was investigating a series of homophobic and threatening remarks made by a soldier in response to the incident involving Mr Scott Kennedy.
