Corrie gay kiss scene sparks complaints to Ofcom for being ‘sexually suggestive’

Ofcom, the broadcasting regulator, has received a number of complaints about a gay kiss scene in Coronation Street.

The kiss, between Todd Grimshaw, played by Bruno Langley and Marcus Dent, by Charlie Condou, took place in an episode of the ITV soap last week.

According to Ofcom, many of the complaints referred to the fact that the topless kiss took place before the 8pm watershed, and that it was too “sexually suggestive’.

A minority took to Twitter to voice anti-gay opinions about the kiss, but most asked what all the fuss was about.

One Twitter user jokingly referred to a 2001 kiss between characters Deirdre and Dev, asking “you call that a kiss?”

An Ofcom spokesperson has now confirmed to PinkNews that “the programme will not be investigated”.
