Evangelist Scott Lively calls for homosexuality to be defined as a ‘mental illness’

  • Hypnox

Well, that makes us even. I want evangelism to be defined as a mental illness. I think I have a better chance than Mr. Lively, though.

    • simonzee1

Not if you use nature as your startingpoint.

      • JG

Homosexuality has been observed in almost 1500 species… So using nature as a starting point, homosexuality is valid…

        • simonzee1

Not as a rule or we would have an extinction of species wouldn’t you think. I’m prepared to say that some have a genetic predisposition towards being gay but it does not make it normal or beneficial for the species. This is what C.S Lewis said on the matter of homosexuality for those that say he supported gay marriage:

“The stories you tell about two [homosexuals] belong to a terribly familiar pattern: the man of good will, saddled with an abnormal desire which he never chose, fighting hard and time after time defeated. But I question whether in such a life the successful operation of Grace is so tiny as we think. Is not this continued avoidance either of presumption or despair, this ever renewed struggle, itself a great triumph of Grace? Perhaps more so than (to human eyes) equable virtue of some who are psychologically sound.” (Emphasis mine)

          .

          • WASP

“Not as a rule or we would have an extinction of species wouldn’t you think.” i would say 7 billion people wouldn’t exist today had only 1 woman and 1 man mated. incest would have been the only way to reproduce and due to genetic mutations would have made the human species sterile, then extinct.

          • Carl

He obviously did not support gay marriage but he was absolutely certain that homosexuals NEVER CHOSE to be that way, as opposed to some religious fundamentalists that claim that homosexuality is a lifestyle chosen by pure evil.
He was a Christian, so it is understandable that he spoke about the triumph of Grace – I think we have move forward from then to actually see that you can’t “pray away the gay” or nonsense like those.

          • Yesh U R

Simon eyes the troll is having such a good time but all good things come to an end. Bye bye bore.

          • sJames6621

perfectly normal per all the med and psych group in the USa

Prob not in a book written 2000 years ago. in an age of ignorance, stuporstition etc

          • simonzee1

How that second coming out coming on?

          • Mr.Pink

“Not as a rule or we would have an extinction of species wouldn’t you think. I’m prepared to say that some have a genetic predisposition towards being gay but it does not make it normal or beneficial for the species. ”

The amount of gay or bisexual people have remained static throughout our history, do we look anywhere near extinct to you?

Homosexuality does benefit the species as explored in current theory, which explains how homosexuality in males makes the females within the family more fertile. Of course Christians deny scientific study as it undermines and contradicts their ideology based on myths and fear.

Perhaps if you actually bothered to research the topic you would know the ways in which homosexuality benefits the species otherwise it would no longer exist; unfortunately you have the education and understanding of a child.

  • Robert W. Pierce

This cretin should be barred from the UK. Far more dangerous than Fred Phelps who has already been barred. I’ve contacted the Home Office several times, received no response.

    • Truth

Good for you, Robert. Keep up the campaign. I’m going to do the same.

    • simonzee1

Of course he would be banned from Britain because as C.S.Lewis said you are all a bunch of milksops. Have a read of C.S.Lewis writings and you may get a window into life. Christians will not be lectured by people propped up with ant-depressants like Stephen Fry.

      • Carl

Yes, since no Christian in this world has ever taken anti-depressants…
It is you who should learn from C.S.Lewis. You might not know that Lewis’ “pronouncements on homosexuality were notably liberal-minded…no doubt because Arthur Greeves, his best friend from boyhood, was homosexual”.

        • simonzee1

From the pen of C.S Lewis:

“The stories you tell about two [homosexuals] belong to a terribly familiar pattern: the man of good will, saddled with an abnormal desire which he never chose, fighting hard and time after time defeated. But I question whether in such a life the successful operation of Grace is so tiny as we think. Is not this continued avoidance either of presumption or despair, this ever renewed struggle, itself a great triumph of Grace? Perhaps more so than (to human eyes) equable virtue of some who are psychologically sound.” (Emphasis mine)

  • wildseas

He should be put away somewhere for the protection of society and himself. What a nutter!

  • Brett Gibson

And believing in an imaginary man in the sky, believing that ‘moses’ parted a bloody sea, that ‘jesus’ turned water into wine, that a man put two of every animal onto one boat and that God put dinosaur fossils on earth to ‘test our faith’, is what, common sense and sanity? *laughs hysterically*

Christians like this man literally blame everyone of what they’re guilty of themselves.

They think homosexuality is unnatural yet do we see any other creatures on earth praying to a deity?

They blame homosexuals of child abuse, but is lying to your children, expecting them to conform and disowning them if they disobey you not real child abuse? I’ll not even talk in depth about the amount of domestic and sexual abuse that goes on in religious households that gets swept under the rug.

They confess to be all about charity yet they live in some of the greediest countries on earth.

If he were a real ‘Christian’, he’d be out there devoting his life to building and improving the quality of life of those people in Africa etc who are the people in most need of our attention and LOVE – forget all about that word, eh Scotty?

What an absolutely corrupt and disgusting excuse of a human being.

    • Truth

“Me thinks the lady doth protest too loudly”. No normal heterosexual human being is this obsessed with homosexuality… unless, of course, they have suppressed issues of their own….? There are plenty of other far worse so-called ‘sins’ in the Bible that these people could obsess over. But they don’t. So, what does that tell you…?

      • Ray123

Good point their obvious obsession with this issue must give them pause for thought and inner reflection? You would think. Perhaps he could start with obsessing about the ten commandments just to help him take their minds of homosexuality, for a moment or two?

    • http://texant.co.nr Anton

Also remember Jesus as 12 despoils who where ALL MEN,

      • WASP

he had 11 men and 1 woman; which mind you he never “touched” her, so that begs the question; did juda’s kissing jesus hint at something?

    • simonzee1

What does the homosexual community do for others except exibit grand narcassism at mardi gras. Do not preach to Christians who helped stop slavery and who care for the poor. Just because we do not agree with homosexual lifestyles does not make us extremist and you ate more naturephobes than Christians can be falsely labelled homophobes.

      • Brett Gibson

I’m sorry Christians helped STOP slavery? Think you need to read a bloody history book thank you very much as it was Christians who STARTED slavery!! Also the Christians southern stronghold who went to war with the North because they wanted to KEEP slavery. I’m also assuming you’re blindly unaware of the passage in the bible that states it is fine to have slaves so long as they are from neighbouring countries?

        F*ck off.

        • simonzee1

I hear the bigotry and extremism and ignorance. Apparently I’m not supposed to be on this site. What’s the matter I’m interfering with your groupthink and illiberal left wing religious bigotry. As I say again stop labelling people homophobic when you are clealry naturephobic.

          • Carl

You are not interfering with any group thinking. You are just saying nonsense.

          • Yesh U R

You should be on this site, you are obviously gay, just closeted and self hating which is sad but understandable because you are brainwashed by your particular brand of cult.

        • simonzee1

Watch that politically incorrect language you might offend someone with less intelligence than you.

      • Brett Gibson

I also said “Christians LIKE this man” not ALL Christians. You really should learn how to read.

      • Brett Gibson

Oh, it was also Christians that pretty much wiped out an entire race (Native Americans). So you really don’t have a leg to stand on in this argument.

      • David Greensmith

Perhaps rather than reading the same limited number of passages in the Bible all the time, you might benefit from taking a break and reading a history book. Christianity was used to justify slavery and oppose its abolition. Christianity was used to justify racial segregation. I’m assuming that “grand narcassism [sic]” should read “grand narcissism” – if so, so what? Why not celebrate your culture and who you are. Or would you be in favour of banning all public displays of personal allegiance such as the St Patrick’s Day parades and, oh, I don’t know – religious monuments, churches and public prayer?

      • James Campbell

I am a Christian (note the capital C it stands for those who beleve in Christ who never spoke out against homosexuality). My brother is Gay. I respect him and all LGBTI people. Please note, SOME straight people helped to end slavery and help the poor, but so do gay people. I suggest you go out more and actually meet with gay people who are working to make this world a better place, unlike those who seem to use up most of their energy in hating others and fantasing about what gay people do in bed.

        • simonzee1

Do not speak out? Yes well that says it all.by their fruits you shall know them. Its good yourespect your brother because love is important but not condoning selfishness and sin.

Educate me. What gay groups are out there helping others outside their grand narcassistic community. It is also no accident that a rise in narcassism on the internet is seeing a spike in homosexual propaganda.

Hate is a strong word. Don’t confuse hate with wisdom and understanding. As the bible says, ” There is a way that seemeth right to man to follow the trend of his own thoughts and iniquties.” Homosexuality is sin full stop. But keep loving your brother because it will be quite a roller coaster ride.

          • James Campbell

I suspect that this reply is going to be a waste of time and I am really not here to talk about myself, but what is being done (especially in the name of religion) to LGBTI people requires me to speak out, so here goes: I am a doctor, a specialist in child mental health (with a sideline in genetics). Several of my colleagues are gay and I am witness to the excellent work they do with behaviourally & mentally disturbed young people. As a member of Physicians for Human Rights I have worked overseas and some of those who lay their lives on the line in some very dangerous places just happen to be gay. I could give you a long list of LGBTI people who give of themselves around the world, but that would take up a lot of space. Suffice it to say that not once have I encountered a gay person who places vanity/narcissism above duty. My brother is gay and previously worked in Africa until a close friend (black African) charity worker was beaten, almost to death, due to the HATRED inspired by those who carry a club in one hand and a Bible in the other. As a Christian I believe in unconditional love, but there are those who claim the same faith and show very little love. This may upset you, but my brother plans to marry next year ….

          • simonzee1

Yep you wasted your time because you don’t read your bible and have no respect for nature as a naturephobe

          • sJames6621

your what we call in america – bible thumpers – picking out their favorite words from a book written and re-written etc In the 90s as word processors became more available they right ingers made many changes to their bibble dribble. Wish I remembered a couple of them- made things rediculous.

Simon go home to your cross and …………………

Most of us have trashed the book that costt the world 500 to a thousand years of social and economic progress..

Jesus said love thy neighbor – the rest of the bible is hogwash

Ps google gay porn – it might make you happier but we thank yoou for gvingg us so many reasons to help people leave the fairy in the sky who gave us the followiing

            http://nobeleifs.com/nazis.htm

          • simonzee1

You all just prove my point as anti-religious bigots and extremists. We need to call this you second coming out.

          • Carl

You just want to have the last word, even if that means to talk nonsense. They just refuted every single thing you said with facts and logic. You just don’t want to see it because you are filled with hate, and you have an agenda by coming to this site. You failed miserably.

      • sJames6621

BTW the world is changing – a couple weeks ago scotland voted 105 to 18
for the big deal – ending segregation of bays from marriage under
        civil law

the only natiion to have a unanimous vote for marriage in parlaitment was iceland – 2010 49 to 0. There will be more.

yes you are a homophobe – you fear gay people because it contraictts your faith

the faith that brought us the following list of horrors during the dark ages

” Gay sex for the first time for me was; intimate, caring, attentive, questioning, revealing, reflective, honest, loving, emotional, wondrous, difficult, giggly, hesitant, brave, memorable, decent… ”
        - Barry William Teske

        Oh sorry wrong story.

    • sJames6621

I should maile hm my favorite cross – made out of two dildos

I use it primarily at places where a lot of youth congregate- insuring that they know that religion is a joke at best, and anti Jew hatred for 1500 years was the foundation for the holocaust.

      • Brett Gibson

All of religion is a joke and humans 200 years from now will laugh in disbelief at how stupid the human race used to be.

  • Truth

Hmmm. Not sure about that, Scott. But if someone proposes the same thing for religious belief, I’ll be completely behind that.

  • Jones

“The only problem is that most of the people with the power to change it back are now homosexualists themselves, infected with the same disorder. God help us.”

No, they are just not homophobic bigots like you.

    • Truth

I think you’ll find most of what Mr Livesey says is directed at himself. People who are this obsessed with homosexuality obviously have inner same-sex attraction issues ….. the self hatred just oozes out of him …..

      • Liam

I don’t buy the argument that all homophobes are closet cases, but when gay sex is all a person can talk about, there really isn’t a better explanation.

        • Truth

So …. if it’s not suppressed same-sex attraction which, usually because of religious conditioning, they simply cannot handle, to what DO you ascribe their obsessive interest in the subject? Remember, if there was no ‘taboo’ about being gay, generated by religion, who’d have any problem with it ….? Homophobes use religion to prop-up their self-hatred.

        • simonzee1

Only for those paralyzed by their second coming out. Yes I know….both promised to be liberating but both are just bondage. That’s called sin.

      • simonzee1

LIVELY THE LEGEND. NOW THERE IS SOMEONE WITH CHARACTER AND CONVICTION. Compare his dialouge with those having their second coming out as anti-religious bigots and there is just no comparison. We call that light and darkness.

        • Carl

Get your facts right, Lively does not have courage and conviction, he is just PLAIN CRAZY.

  • David Greensmith

How about classifying belief in magic as a mental disorder? It certainly creates plenty of damage.

    • simonzee1

What damage? What about the damage of sexual disease?

      • David Greensmith

Religon has a terrible history of causing wars, hatred, violence being used to justify genoicde, slavery and all manner of terroriism and oppression. As for sexual diseases, I think you’ll find they are already classified as ilnesses.

      • Carl

@simonzee1 Are you sure you are not Scott Lively? Because you surely defend his ideas rabidly but not very logically. Your comment seems to imply that the gay community is solely responsible for human sexual diseases. I can tell you that a LOT of heterosexual people are also responsible for the spread of these diseases, particularly those who in public claim to be saints but in private commit the worse offences to their own religions.
This kind of hating mentality of “you bad (going to hell), I’m good (going to heaven)” is a disorder that should be eliminated.

        • simonzee1

I’m dealing with the facts and yes promiscuity is rampant amongst women and men that have few morals beyond selfish lust and screwed up ideas of love. Now if the facts were allowed to be published you would not accept them based on the facts. It is a sad fact of a politically correct society that these facts are hidden. Instead we have a human rights agenda by the religious left which is everything about naturephobia and falsely claimed as homophobia.

          • Yesh U R

Grow up and come out of the damn closet the cult has fried your ability to reason.

          • Carl

Now you are talking more and more like Scott Lively – you know “facts” that nobody else does, they are “secret” and this evil society does not allow them to be published (Nuts or what?!)
Those men and women with “few morals beyond selfish lust and screwed up ideas of love” live in the Vatican and in your own churches. They are your popes and pastors, who preach celibacy and talk about human relationships as if they knew what they are talking about. They are your spiritual leaders that know nothing else but hate, like this nutter of Scott Lively.
Please, please, come down from your pedestal and out of the closet and look inside yourself for a minute – you might find the truth. And stop trolling.

          • simonzee1

How’s your second coming out as an anti religious bigot and extremist going?. I would expect much like the first. People may be conned by all your bigotry because they are groupthink back patters but we are not all naturephobic.

          • Carl

If we were to summarise all your “contributions” here, we could reduce them to “naturaphobic” and “anti religious bigots”, both concepts absolutely ridiculous. When someone answers your “contributions” with facts and logic you only have more nonsense and rabid hate. You don’t fool anyone but yourself. You didn’t come here to learn but to spat your hate and your religious delusions Please go back to your church to fool others silly enough to believe your nonsense.

          • Yesh U R

http://www.hrc.org/blog/entry/14-year-old-anti-gay-radio-pundit-removed-from-air I would give good odds that this is you ‘Simon’ because it is at exactly the same level of childish self-hate and it sounds like your crazy postings. I pity you, I truly do.

          • simonzee1

I’m in that strange head of your aren’t I? That’s the light shining in the darkness.

          • Yesh U R

I’m in your head by the sound of things and when people read your posts they see that second coming out and all that projection. Let the light shine in the darkness because Yes U R are wrong my naturephobic dreamer. At least you should feel safe posting here with all these other coming outs.

      • Yesh U R

Grow up, and knock off the childish nonsense, come out of the damn closet already.

I really wish that Scott Lively would get psychiatric help. His mental disorder is resulting in gay people being abused and killed all over the World.

    • Lawerence Collins

Psych help wouldn’t help, demonic, soulless sociopathic, Rethuglican zombie sheeple, like lively, are far from human! These subhuman frauds seek to inflict as much pain and damage as they can.

    • simonzee1

Those that are naturephobic should get some rational thoughts into their heads.

      • Yesh U R

Being a trolling bigot is not helping to get you out of that closet. You wouldn’t be here unless you are ……………?

  • D.McCabe

Scott Lively should be classed as a mental illness………….or should that be just mental and should be locked up? I am going with both options

  • Liam

Glass houses. People who believe in the myriad of utterly, pants-on-head crazy things in the bible really have no place accusing anyone of being mentally ill.

I’ve started a new religion …. Peterpanity. Our saviour (Peter Pan) lives forever in a beautiful place in the sky … Never Never Land. We have a nasty person (Captain Hook) to explain away all the bad things that happen. Erm …. wait a minute .. this is starting to sound familiar …..

      • Kieran

Good point, Peter Pan is similar to Christianity except Christianity causes bad music and genocide

      • simonzee1

No the real imagination is the one that denies we are spiritual beings. What is the gay community doing for the poor. If you spend half your time and effort on others instead of your propaganda you might have some credibility. A global community of grand narcassists is what characterises the gay community.

        • Yesh U R

Get help, get out of the cult, stay out, and come out already!

        • sJames6621

          • simonzee1

Is that second coming out as an anti religious bigot and extremist liberating? I think not! How can you when you are a slave to sin.

          • Mr.Pink

This is what happens when you are brainwashed into a cult based on the exploitation of fear in order to consolidate power. You spend your time on gay websites spouting gobble-de-gook.

“Sin” is a behavioral control system and the only reason homosexuality is considered a sin in your cult is as follows:

            1. The church is against contraception, abortion and homosexuality because they want to control reproductive habits of it’s followers in order to consolidate power through the indoctrination of their potential offspring.

            2. Those who hide behind the bible to justify their prejudice NEED being gay to be a “sin” because if gays are allowed access to heaven and they don’t like gays then heaven can therefore not exist for that individual. The idea of gays getting into heaven for a homophobe threatens the very foundations of their “faith” and life insurance policy of heaven.

“Sin” is a behavioral control system no different to Santa Clause: “He” sees everything you do, “He” has a big list of who’s been good and who’s been bad, “He” rewards you with heaven and gifts if you follow the rules and “He” punishes you with hell and coal if you don’t.

So in reality you are living in fear of Santa Clause, not “God”. God is just Santa Clause without the red suit and hat.

          • simonzee1

Mr Pink are do you host this site? Intresting to associate yourself with a colour. Does that make you feel special or elite in some way? You obviously are interested in trying to polish up your bigotry and make it more palitable for pseudo-intellectuals. It is more refined than those on this site who call for people like Lively and me to be in prison…exterminated or sodomised. It is still a second coming out for you as an anti-religious bigot. Obviously Santa Clause is important to you…you have a fixation on him….you might need counselling for that. But you tell the above rubbish to a person who has found God and has been pulled out of the viscious spiral of drug and alcohol addiction. Faith becomes their life and their freedom and God becomes their friend. Thus is spiritual but you would not believe that because you are a bigit like Stephen Hawking who knows everything. Next time you look at an American dollar bill have a look what is on it, ” In God We Trust.” You are just a wanabe polite and sacastic anti-religious bigot coming out.

  • xnamora

Scott Lively is smoking the pole. He has closet case written all over him. In fact, he looks and sounds very much like an old “friend” of mine. From my naughty teenage years.

    • Truth

Glad you’ve spotted it. It’s the same with ALL rabid homophobes. The greater the homophobe, the greater the closet case …. in my personal experience.

  • Raisinhead

Notice how much the anti gay rhetoric has escalated? When truth evades your side of the argument, shout louder and get nastier. Clear proof they have nothing left to persuade and nothing but an inner anger that they are losing so badly.

This call to change DSM will succeed the way stones fly.

  • Jean – Paul

/// He wrote: “In 1973, after an intensive campaign of pressure and harassment by LGBT activists, the board of the American Psychological Association voted to remove homosexuality as a mental illness from their Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) ///
    ——Scott Lively

I’m not so sure about that. There was some convincing support from peer-reviewed scientific research concerning the science of human sexuality.

    • Mr.Pink

Everyone knows the political power of gays in 1973 was so gargantuan that the scientific community had no choice but to succumb to our wishes or face the DEVASTATING backlash of 5% of the population who nobody cared about anyway. MWUAHAHA!

  • David de Croy

Sadly, I agree with Hypnox and many others – why not classify this deranged, illogical and non biblical version of evangelism as a mental illness? Why should we tolerate such unscientific and immoral rubbish from some purporting to talk to an unseen deity and, hearing their voice, inform the rest of society what we ought to think….

    • simonzee1

You mean statements like that from Hawking that philosophy is dead. Now that is some philosophical statement. Science answers everything. Pfft you guys were born yesterday.

  • Cal

But really. WHAT is his problem exactly? His obsessiveness on the subject is bizarre.

    • David Greensmith

It is, isn’t it? I know there are all manner of young Earth creationist and anti abortion and pro segregation sites out there on the web. I’d heard about “two girls one cup” and had a strong feeling that I wasn’t going to like what I saw. So my bizarre response that conundrum is that I’ve never seen it. Although I have a vague idea of what happens, I don’t obsess about it. I certainly don’t seek out every occurrence of it on the web to express my outrage, etc. There must be something that keeps the homophobes coming back here. It’s either just plain trolling and bullying, or something internalised.

      • Cal

A friend of mine tried to trick me into watching 2 girls, one cup. I lasted 3 seconds. Don’t want to know!

“My father suffered from a severe form of mental illness that began when I
was about 9 or 10 and became progressively worse. At the age of 12 I
became an alcoholic as a means of coping with my family situation. … I was an alcoholic and drug addict for 16 years, drifting around the
United States, often homeless, sometimes sleeping under bridges and
begging for spare change on street-corners.”
    -Scott Lively.

I strongly suspect it’s Scott Lively who has the mental illness, it would certainly make a lot of sense.

  • BarryWilliamTeske

    “Bing Dictionary:

    pol·i·tics [ póllətiks ]
1 activities associated with government: the theory and practice of government, especially the activities associated with governing, with obtaining legislative or executive power, or with forming and running organizations connected with government
2 political life: political activity as a profession
3 power relationships in specific field: the interrelationships between the people, groups, or organizations in a particular area of life especially insofar as they involve power and influence or conflict.”

Number 3 seems very appropriate…now more than ever.

    • Anton Veenstra.

Ironic that bigot homophobes like Scott Lively are spreading propaganda that gays caused the holocaust; Lively’s prejudice will have similar effects like the holocaust: innocent people will be persecuted & killed; Scott Lively should be brought in front of the international Court of Justice & tried for inciting extreme violence against gay people. He should be jailed for his crime.

    • simonzee1

Yeah the gay lobbyist. YOU’RE right ON!

      • Carl

        Loser!

        Seriously.

Trying to be clever but instead very stupid. This is your second coming out as an anti religious bigot. Well done for joining the club.

      • Carl

You are not even trying to be clever, you are just plain stupid, repeating your mantra like a parrot. Booooooring!

      • http://thenakedgeek.shawwebspace.ca/ Barry William Teske

Hey there if you need a hug, maybe a shoulder to cry on just ask.

  • Racheist

eerrr . hellloooo…. To be extreme and unreasonable IS part of a diagnosis for mental issues.
Most gays are extreme and unreasonable “Give us gay marriage, and equal rights” What a load of phooey.
Anyone ‘stepping out’ should be subject to a psych check, and at a course called ‘ the world doesn’t care, or like you’
The sooner an island is found to dump all the butt sniffers together on, the better the world will be.
And no I am not trolling. This is the belief of 98% of the REAL world, who just don’t care enough to be here posting with me.

    • Samuel Bronkowitz

You’re just pissed cause no one wants to sniff your butt

    • josepholeary

Is this a parody of Scott Lively? Or are you really what you portray yourself as here?

    • Rehan

And no I am not trolling.

You show about as much self-awareness as awareness of the world around you. Poor silly thing.

    • Carl

      Dear Racheist
Is that a picture of you, a crazy lunatic clown? That explains your comment.

    • David Greensmith

What is “extreme and unreasonable” about demanding equality under the law? What is “extreme and unreasonable” about wanting to live your life in a way that makes you feel fulfilled as long as you aren’t hurting anyone else? If If a person has a right to live as a Christian, then someone who is gay has the right to live as openly gay. People should not be arbitrarily demoted to second class citizenship just because one group of people don’t like them.

      • simonzee1

If you want equality you cannot reconcile this biologically so what is the sanity in that. I am for taxing gay couples and single a lot more who decide not to have children a lot more especially with an aging population. Family payments are a direct way of doing this as is currently the case. Hey there is another argument you can put forward for discrimination.

        • Yesh U R

I am all for bigots like you getting help to get out of the cults that have brainwashed you.

        • David Greensmith

What has equality got to do with biology other than the biological fact that we are all human beings and as human beings should be treated equally? Your idea that people who don’t have children should be taxed more overlooks the fact that people who don’t have children are paying into a system that supports the health service and education but that they take less out – in effect those of us who don’t have children are subsidising those who do. In effect we’re already paying more tax because we get less benefit from the welfare state. The underlying theme here is that you seem to believe people should, if not be forced, then coerced into behaving in a way that you find acceptable. Too bad for you. That’s not how a free society works. If you want to have children – go ahead. We have no government policy here restricting the number of children you can have and if you spray them out like popcorn kernels and then find you can’t afford to feed them, then the welfare state will pick up the slack. If you don’t want children, don’t have them. There is nothing “extreme” or “unreasonable” about people living their lives in the way they wish, building the families they want, so long as they don’t harm others. Trying to force people to live as you want them to live – now that is extreme, unreasonable and more than that, it’s evil.

          • simonzee1

Stop projecting no one is forcing anyone. Just keep paying those taxes so you can support real families with a real future.

          • David Greensmith

I’m quite happy to pay my taxes. I think churches should do the same.

    • Truth

When you say ‘this is the belief of 98% of the real world’, where exactly are you getting your figures ….. or is that just your delusional ‘belief’ based on your religious bigotry?

    • simonzee1

No need to be vulgar or aggressive. I agree that homosexuality is not good for the species morally, spiritually and reproductively. Isn’t it funny that the most ignorant minds give themself names like “Truth.” Why am I on this site. Because it is called “free speech.”

      • Carl

You obviously are lacking something in your head. Have you heard the word “sarcasm”, or your Bible doesn’t contain that word? But I bet it does contain the word Truth.
By the way, many of the best minds in history have been gay.

        • simonzee1

The more I see the more I realise how bigoted and uneducated you guys are Carl. That is sad for you I’m afraid. Actually the best minds have had their first degree in theology like Darwin and Issac Newton. And the brillant gay guy who was the master codebreaker in the Secon World War committed suicide not because of churches like Richard Dawkins said but because of the opinions of the scientific community at the time. But we all know apart from bigots like Dawkins that discrimination is not the only trigger for suicide. It is a state of mind and also environmental matters. Open your mind and ease back on the militancy.

          • Yesh U R

Free yourself of your religious delusions and come out of the damn closet already!

          • Carl

Darwin? Is that the one that religious nutters like you wanted to shut up because he dare to speak against the Church’s teachings? Is that the one from the theory of evolution that put an end to the fairy bed stories about Adam and Eve?
And of course, you know better than all historians the cause of Turing’s death (especially when you can’t even remember his name!). Of course, but please tell us the academic chair that you hold, how many papers in human psychology have you published? No? Just the Bible? Yeah, I can see who is the uneducated one.

      • Yesh U R

Compared to Christianity and the world-wide harm that has done to humanity for thousands of years I’d say you have won the jackpot on ignorance. You are on this site because you are a bigot and a closet homosexual. Nobody elected you to speak for humanity either.

    • Mr.Pink

What a fantastic way to tell everybody on the internet you live a miserable husk of existence. Single are we?

P.s. it’s called “coming out”, not “stepping out” LOL

  • VP

The fun thing to remember about the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual is that it is as much a product of its time as any book. American psychiatrists once classified the desire not to do slave labour as a mental illness among the slave population, for instance, and Soviet psychiatrists thought the same about an interest in fostering political change. Such documents are perhaps of greater use to historians of culture and ideas than to practicing medical professionals.

  • Leonard

“The only problem is that most of the people with the power to change it back are now homosexualists themselves, infected with the same disorder. God help us.”

No, the problem is that the misguided fools who make idiotic statements like the one above refuse to educate themselves.

  • JIMMYPALMIERI

THIS EVIL DEMON WILL ROT IN HELL.

  • josepholeary

Evangelist? Dysangelist more likely. He is the onlie begetter of this: http://ja.scribd.com/doc/208880087/Anti-Homosexuality-Act-2014

  • Samuel Bronkowitz

Damn right. We homosexuals had sow much clout and power back in 1973. We will not rest until everyone is gay married

  • Rehan

‘Writing on his website’ – are we not actually giving him the attention and publicity he so desperately craves?

  • Narrow

Well if Evangelicals get to define what homosexuality is, then it is only fair homosexuals get to define what a Evangelical is…raving lunatic comes to mind…ignorant waste of space… hate filled trog… but typically, it would be contemptable when done to the poor unfortunate religious people who just want to live in this world hating everyone they’ve been told to hate and gleefully talking about these people going to Hell and bragging about how they are going to Heaven.

    • simonzee1

Not hate my friend just common sense speaking out to naturephobes. I’m just helping you to see your second coming out as anti religiois bigots. Sin is blinding and deceptive you know.

      • Carl

…and so is religion, you know.

  • wickedeggs

That is the face of a man who secretly fantasises about snorting cocaine of the erect penis of a hugely endowed cross dressing prostitute (whom to be sure I have every respect for) before getting a good rogering afterwards. Good lordy me. I wait for the day when someone outs him.

    • simonzee1

More projection from a perverse mind. But let your mind wander because sin has no restraint when you are a grand narcassist.

  • http://www.appertunity.com Appertunity Admin

    Surely he means homophobia?

  • http://www.appertunity.com Appertunity Admin

Gays fighting for their rights, like women wanting the vote and now look where we are!

    • simonzee1

In the wilderness of mental health and sexual health issues I would expect.

      • Carl

        You talk by experience?

  • simonzee1

Scott Lively is a legend. For all those homosexual activists that are naturephobes think about your extremism. Be honest about the sexual disease and promiscuity in the homosexual community. Stop being naturephobes. Even nature has more moral order.

    • Truth

Why are you on a gay website? You sound like one big self-hater to me… suffering from the same kind of internalised self-loathing as the loving Christian, Mr Lively.

    • Yesh U R

The jail sentence he is likely to get will be legendary and so well deserved. I will be cheering on that day along with many thousands of others. I only wish I could see your face on that day.

    • Carl

I agree, he is a legend… amongst lunatics and nutters.

  • Andreas Meyer

Well, it was listed as such not so long ago.

  • Yesh U R

Scott Lively is typical of the Christian fundamentalist elite that is making untold millions of dollars out of the mass of educational underachievers who pay them to provide them with excuses to hate other human beings. Lively is a businessman and hate is his stock in trade. The Court case about to take place in Boston is going to be very significant because the odds have now shortened considerably in favour of his conviction. When he is jailed (hopefully for a very long time) the others in the same line of business will follow him into prison not long after. When he is on that stand in that Court the world will get to see just what he is underneath the bully blustering, and the windbag posturing. The fundamentalist haters have made a fatal mistake this time and it will be in a Court of Law that they will be made to pay. I am looking forward to every minute of it.

    • simonzee1

It has been an eye opener coming onto this site. The bigotry seems very similar to that of tyrants and the ignorant.

      • Yesh U R

What is apparent from your postings is that you have an agenda that has been seen many times before on this site. That agenda is to provoke and then farm the responses for onward publication on “Christian” websites to ‘prove’ how your position regarding LGBT issues is the correct one. The tyranny of fundamentalist Christianity is such that because of it people are subjected to violence to their legal rights, their physical bodies and even are put to death because of a religious interpretation they don’t happen to share a belief in, that is one meaning of tyranny, tyranny at its worst too. You may have had your eyes opened (although I very much doubt that) but ours are always wide open to the reality of people such as you, and that is the product of education and experience at the hands of bigots as you unmistakably are bigoted. Your bigotry is easily identified and will ultimately be put behind legal rulings where it can do no further harm to the innocent. So troll on, but do so in the sure and certain knowledge that your particular brand of religion is being put in the dustbin of history where it belongs, right now.

        • simonzee1

Free speech….no dustbin just right.. and your wrong. Can’t make that which is unnatural natural my naturephobic Yes U R. Yes U R wrong.

          • Yesh U R

He’s going to jail for a long time my pet, and some of his friends (and maybe yours too) will be joining him soon after as well. My cup runneth over my little closet case trollette, it doth runneth over all over you.

          • simonzee1

Keep your cup for celebrating your second coming out as an anti religious bigot.

          • Yesh U R

I have celebrated my freedom from the utter absurdity of Christian beliefs since I rejected them entirely at 10 years of age. You can believe any nonsense you like, what you cannot do is impose your nonsense on anyone else, simple isn’t it? You and your fellow cultists don’t get to decide how I or anyone else lives their lives. Now off you pop and get down on your knees and pray to your delusion. The law is going to cauterise that particular infection from doing anymore harm, celebrate!

        • simonzee1

Are you having your second coming out of the closet as an anti-religious bigot. There is a somewhat disappointing orientation in that in a life lived. But it must be liberating for a naturephobe.

          • Yesh U R

You are gibbering my pet, and as usual making no sense at all. You are presenting all the necessary indications for concluding accurately that you are in fact seriously deluded. Simon, sweetie pie come out of the closet and free yourself from the nasty Christian cult that has you in its grip. Or don’t I really couldn’t care less either way.

      • Carl

You certainly made me laugh. Your eyes didn’t open. You came here and went out without having changed a single thing. You didn’t learn anything.
That is bigotry and tyranny. The tyranny of “I am right and you are wrong”, called religion, that has inflicted humanity for so long, and that has kept millions in ignorance – you are a prime example of it.

        • simonzee1

Carl you had your second coming out. Celebrate the revelation that you are an anti religious bigot as you would your orientation because that is affirmative in the negative.

          • Carl

I stand by facts, you stand by hate and delusional beliefs. I’m sorry to disappoint you, there’s nothing to celebrate here.

  • Michael David Barber Moghul

I call on the APA to seriously look at this neuroscientists findings on religious fundamentalism and take a vote on including same as a mental illness in the DSM: http://www.policymic.com/articles/45811/religious-fundamentalism-is-a-mental-illness-that-could-soon-be-cured

  • Michael Antonio Downs

EVEN THE MENTALLY ILL CAN GET MARRIED

  • Daniel

I think it’s more suitable to define belief in an imaginary being, dogged refusal to accept scientific fact and outright extremism is more likely to be defined within the realms of mental illness than an innate physical characteristic.

  • Mike

There is only one person who is mentally ill in this the discussion; the sad person who started it! Scott Lively!

  • http://thenakedgeek.shawwebspace.ca/ Barry William Teske

    Not for me.
Gay sex for me the first time was; intimate, caring, attentive, questioning, revealing, reflective, honest, loving, emotional, wondrous, difficult, giggly, hesitant, brave, memorable, decent…

    Oh sorry wrong story.
