Video: Crowd cheers as Ugandan President declares ‘war on the homosexual lobby’ with anti-gay bill

  • Jock S.Trap

    Disgusting.

The harm these vile people do to humanity is beyond belief. The fact that chosen religion once again triumphs hatred over how we are born.

This from people who supposedly know how discrimination affects others.

Just plain disgusting. I feel for all LGBT Ugandans and those who even aren’t but will no doubt be accused.

Shameful. Proof Religion is the worst thing this world has.

  • Cal

These are the “experts” who provided the “evidence” that homosexuality was “social behaviour”. Hardly an international delegation. Couldn’t upload all of them but you get the picture. Shame on them.

Very telling that one of them has himself photographed while ostentatiously leafing through The Imitation of Christ.

His scientific credentials are clearly revealed.

Shame on MTN, one of South Africa’s largest mobile communications companies doing business in Africa, being associated with one of these bigoted “scientists”.

    • Lincoln

Not long ago – scientific evidence was used to show Africans were sub human – go figure. There is much that can be done indirectly – the LGBT global community should ban Coca Cola and put massive pressure on the UN to track down those evangelists who incited this in the first place. Truth be told, not many political bodies – including the United Nations are doing enough. What can be done is redefine the meaning of religious freedom ‘to clearly show the difference between religious belief and inciting hate. What we have is a global frenzy by all religions as they suffer under the advances in science that disprove everything they stand for – as a backlash they have all united in homophobic hate crimes as a last ditch attempt to hold the power they need to exist. This is definitely a war but one the LGBT global community needs to unite against … the war is against the religious freedom act and we need to show the violence and murders under this law so the general public can be aware what religion is actually doing. I just don’t see this happening too soon

EU travel bans for Ugandan politicians NOW and an immediate freezing of all EU and UK aid to the country.

  • Raisinhead

I urge a boycott of the so-called scientists who provided the smokescreen cover for this law to be signed. EU travel bans. Boycott by international scientific community.,

There needs to be UN sanctions against Uganda right now, there also needs to be announcements of a travel ban for all Ugandan politicians, and an investigation in the USA to establish which Evangelical nutters were involved in this. This is a violation of international Human Rights laws and agreements – which Uganda has previously agreed to uphold. Uganda is in breach of these agreements and must face the consequences.

The UN needs to prepare a delegation, and potentially and peacekeeping force, to travel to Nigeria to ensure that any abuses are recorded and the government held accountable.

We know what’s going to happen now. There is going to be violence, people are going to die, all in the name of ignorance and religious delusion.

Have you seen the Innocent Drinks adverts on TV. Seems that company gives money to Uganda as part of the “Chain of Good” – Well this doesn’t look good to me. And by the way they are almost entirely owned by Coca Cola – sponsor of the Sochi Olympics. Don’t buy Innocent smoothies unless you want to support worldwide homophobia.

    • Truth

I haven’t bought Coca Cola for YEARS after it proved itself to be decidedly homophobic on a previous occasion.

      • http://www.bloketoys.co.uk/ BlokeToys.co.uk

And after all the stories about the poisoning of groundwater in India, and the use of violent mobsters to crush Unions in South America.

Coca Cola is NOT the nice and friendly corporation some people seem to still think it is. It is a ruthless, cynical, money making machine and just like almost every other corporation on the planet it has absolutely no morals and no ethics.

It would kill to earn another $100 and no one within that corp would think twice about it.

    • Graham

Dave i so agree with you, a week ago i was in Sainsbury’s and there was a woman offering a sample of these drinks, i tried all that was on offer, i was then offered a discount voucher an told some of the purchase price was going to a charity. When i asked what charity the money was going to, at first the woman said she didn’t know then she told me Uganda. i told her she could keep the drinks and no way would i offer any support. she then asked my partner if i was a racist. Truth is i would rather and do support the RSPCA than give a penny to these people. Our government seems quite happy to give these vile people billions of pounds of aid each year, we must all do our bit and try to find out where our charity donations are going, and if they are going to any african country say NO

  • JD

SANCTIONS AGAINST THIS COUNTRY OF NEANDERTHALS – Enough with the european tolerance – This is a Crime against Basic Human Rights

  • Valksy

There is no greater threat to the safety, liberty and lives of LGBT people today than the noxious influence of Abrahamic faith. Whether as provocateur or as excuse, it endangers our community (while so called “moderates sit in craven and apathetic silence). And where there is poverty, poor education standards, illiteracy and all associated ignorance that goes with believing in magical drivel, there tend to be extremism. This bill is going to cost more lives.

Immediate sanctions, immediate cessation of any and all aid monies, immediate asylum processing to anyone who can get out (without any of the degrading nonsense the government has been pulling) is essential now to preserve life.

Check your purchasing habits, check your charitable selections, hold any payment or support to anyone funding any interests in Uganda and take steps to ensure they become the pariah nation they so deserve to be.

  • Steven Gibson

as an openly gay man, this is very disappointing, I fear for Ugandan LGBTI, Amnesty must act….

  • Jones

He wants war? Okay he can have it. Immediate closure of all British-Ugandan embassies, withdrawal of all diplomats from Uganda, all Ugandan nationals out of the UK.

  • Homophobianotwelcome

Does president Museveni realise that some of the aid he gets comes from gay people? Can I have a tax rebate for it? In all seriousness the sad fact is gay people are supporting homophobia without free choice or will. Stop the aid that will wake him up!

  • Truth

Any American ‘evangelists’ who have been instrumental in this campaign of hate should be thrown in jail for incitement.

  • moontk5

Christians made up about 84% of Uganda’s population. The Roman Catholic Church has the largest number of adherents (41.9%), followed by the Anglican Church of Uganda (35.9%). Where is Pope and Anglican Church? Do they condone such laws? Do they wish blood of gay people on their hands?

    • http://www.bloketoys.co.uk/ BlokeToys.co.uk

To put it bluntly, the religious are always quick to suggest they abhor violence and don’t hate anyone, but when this happens they are all mysteriously SILENT.

      Guilty by association.

The fact that no religious group has condemned this tells me all I need to know. Christianity, Islam, Catholicism are all dangerous, evil, sick, twisted cults and every organized religious group on this Earth should be rejected by all rational people.

People wonder why I never trust a religious person, this is why. I cannot stand people who think they are “superior” to others because of a fairy story they read once.

  • lee

I wonder if they would cheer is AID was stopped

  • Ray123

I wonder if the usual apologists will ever stop making excuses for these people, as they have done for decades? They would still be burning old women as witches if they could.

  • Jerry Spiegelman

Stupid degenerate savages. They are probably cannibals too.

    • NT

Jerry, this is the Pink News website, not Stormfront. This kind of ignorant racism helps nothing.

The Ugandan government and the supporters of this bill are despicable. Financial pressure must be brought to bear on them by all responsible governments and those with business interests in Uganda.

      • Jeffrey

NT…This is not racism!! They ARE stupid degenerate savages, no matter what colour they are. If they were the whitest of the white I would still call them the same as Jerry does!

        • NT

So you’d call white people ‘cannibals’ too then? Yeah. Right. It’s racism.

  • George Broadhead

It should come as no surprise to anyone that Uganda has followed in the footsteps of Nigeria on this. Nor should it be surprising that this Draconian anti-gay legislation has the full support of the Anglican Church of Uganda: http://www.religiondispatches.org/dispatches/petermontgomery/6065/ugandan_bishops_push_notorious_anti_gay_bill

  • dave

The world is dividing into two camps – those with western values and those following the example of Russia. These games in Sochi have been a big boost to the homophobes. The Sochi sponsors have a lot more to answer for than many realise.

  • James Campbell

What a sorry collection of unknowns. Prof. Seggane Musisi – a
psychiatrist? His name on the list of ‘advisers’ is an insult to the
profession. Most references to him are in relation to his position as
Makerere university, but the ultimate irony is that he is listed as a
member of the Peter C. Alderman Foundation (PCAF) whose mission is to
“heal the emotional wounds of survivors of terrorism and mass violence
by training indigenous health workers and establishing trauma treatment
systems in post-conflict countries around the globe”.
The term “yes men (or women” was coined for people such as these. They will all reap the benefits of their junk science which will persecute and in some
cases kill innocent people. This constant fall-back of searching for a‘gay gene’ is all smoke and mirrors. Genetics is not primary school science and unless one inputs an accurate search with all relevant factors, then it is akin to asking the wrong question and being puzzled by the answer. What is showing interesting results is research into
maternal hormone levels. Even wihtout science, no one should have to defend their sexuality.

  • cri$$y red

most black people oppose homosexuality, always have! what the surprise here. hence the famed ‘down low’ term. Also how come these so called anti gay people always seem sooo effing gay.. that ugandan president (who gives an F about his name) is flaming! hello!

“…until the philosophy which holds one orientation superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned: That until there are no longer first-class and second class citizens of any nation; That whom a man loves is of no more significance than the color of his eyes; That until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regard to orientation; That until that day, the dream of lasting peace and world citizenship and the rule of international morality will remain but a fleeting illusion, to be pursued but never attained; And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes that hold our brothers in Russia, in Nigeria and in Uganda in subhuman bondage have been toppled and destroyed; Until bigotry and prejudice and malicious and inhuman self-interest have been replaced by understanding and tolerance and good-will; Until all Gays and Lesbians stand and speak as free beings, equal in the eyes of all men, as they are in the eyes of Heaven; Until that day, the African continent and the World will not know peace. We Gays and Lesbians will fight, if necessary, and we know that we shall win, as we are confident in the victory of good over evil…”

  • Rumbelow

“Mr Museveni last month refused to sign the bill but on Friday indicated that he would approve it shortly, after receiving “scientific” advice.

Government spokesman Ofwono Opondo said a team of Ugandan “scientists” asked by the president for a report on homosexuality had told Mr Museveni that “there is no definitive gene responsible for homosexuality”.

(There is also no definitive gene responsible for heterosexuality)

He told the AFP news agency this meant “homosexuality is not a disease but merely an abnormal behaviour which may be learned through experiences in life”.

( So by this illogic if there was a definitive gene responsible for homosexuality it would then be a disease?… but there isn’t a definitive gene so it’s an abnormal behaviour?
As there is no known definitive gene responsible for heterosexuality then by same illogic it too is not a disease but an abnormal behaviour which may be learned through experiences in life? which tells us what exactly?)
