Brilliant! Well done to StonewallUK and Maria Miller!!

  2. How will that support be meted out though? I was under the impression that this wouldn’t be possible because of a law that was brought in last year that forces NGOs to register as ‘foreign agents’ – which has all sorts of weird cold-war era connotations…

  3. Channeling support? That sounds good – can we get some specifics as to what this support is?

  4. Every evil organisation needs a front to hide behind. Something so wholesome that it apparently places them beyond criticism.

For the IOC that’s sportsmanship. They perpetrate and facilitate all manner of corruption, scandals and human rights abuse.

Maria Miller is turning out to be alright isn’t she?

  6. Mixed messages. We’re supposedly giving support to LGBT people in Russia yet sending government representatives to validate the Olympics. It’s a disgrace.

  7. Isn’t it really “hush money’ to not disrupt the Olympics? Heres some money to support your cause- now “shut up” and “don’t cause any disruption to the Sochi Olympics”

Hi Miller, my name is Tiller ! Hope You are right. I also want more info. Exactly how this is done ? Through ordinary trade ? I doubt that “this support” is given directly from The UK Government to gay organizations. In some way or other. Is it traditional humanitarian support to ordinary org. in Russia, and thereby indirectly to gays and lesbians ? I want to know !

  9. I was so impressed to see Maria Miller speaking of this move on the BBC news last night.

Excellent move and nicely timed! A real shot in the arm for Russia’s 10 million or so homosexual citizens.

May the deluded religious loons of Russia begin to quake a little!

Whatever form channeling takes on, it’s a welcome step. Better than doing nothing. I applaud Maria Miller and for once, I thank StonewallUK for getting involved.

  11. Russia is democratic. This is what the people want.U.K.has no right to stir it up with them.

    1. Then it’s a mighty poor advertisement for democracy, innit?
