  1. It shouldn’t take the Family Research Council long to commission Marc Regnerus to come up with some junk science study showing gay people are made, considering the low standards of proof these dangerously homophobic evangelical lunatics are happy to accept.
I doubt there is any one way that makes people straight or gay or bisexual, I imagine for every individual there is a multitude of unique factors that are responsible for each persons makeup and sexuality.

No doubt Dr (what of and where from?) Mike Davidson of Core Issues Trust will be on the blower to instruct him how to use distortion effectively.

  2. This is a really positive piece of news – Nice to see him using his head.

    1. Hardly positive. They will find no proof of LGBT people being ‘born that way’ so to speak and therefore he will sign the legislation.

Lobby the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and get them to actively support the President through this decision. I am going to.

    1. Michael Anthony 28 Jan, 3:40pm

This is probably the most important thing for all of us to do. This President is taking a risk by doing this and there’s always the chance of a coup when you anger fellow politicians in countries lime Uganda.

  4. *sigh*

Oh well, more than halfway there I suppose, at least as far as the Ugandan president is concerned. Although he might also encourage people in his country to consider why, in this instance, the actions of consenting adults need to be prohibited in the first place.

You can email Hugh Robertson here: staintonjamesa@parliament.uk.

I just mailed: “Please ask Hugh Robertson in his role as Minister of State for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to assist the President of Uganda to establish that the proposed law criminalising homosexuality is unjust. He is calling for help right now.”

I very much welcome President Museveni’s challenge. I can’t wait for the scientific “evidence” that parliament will adduce.

    1. Emanuel 28 Jan, 9:29pm

They will find no proof of any difference between an gay person or a straight person I bet so they will ban it on the grounds that they are choosing to have sex with the same sex,

  7. A hopeful sign but, as Rehan says above, “he might also encourage people in his country to consider why, in this instance, the actions of consenting adults need to be prohibited in the first place”. Of course, the answer will be that it’s because of god’s commands. Sad. self-delusional. backward bigots. Religion holds responsibility for so much of the world’s hatred, division and bloodshed …. and all because of a ‘belief’.

  8. A hopeful sign but, as Rehan says above, “he might also encourage people in his country to consider why, in this instance, the actions of consenting adults need to be prohibited in the first place”. Of course, the answer from the ranks of ignorance will be that it’s because god commands it. Sad, self-delusional. backward bigots. Religion holds responsibility for so much of the world’s ills – hatred, division and bloodshed …. and all because of a ‘belief’.

  9. Sorry – don’t know how I managed to post the above twice ….

You were able to post it again because you made a change to the original. You added ” ills – ” ……..

Excellent he is making decisions on EVIDENCE and REASON!

  11. Does anyone know how we can support this president? I would really like to.

  12. Albinos aren’t treated too well throughout much of Africa too.

  13. Mike UK 28 Jan, 8:38pm

    Wait….Albinos are born gay?

This guy’s said some pretty nasty and untrue things about gay people previously, but Ii guess he can be regarded as the best among the worst.

  14. clive s 28 Jan, 9:25pm

At least he`s got the guts to stand up to all these homophobic mp`s!!

  15. It’s as if someone cut all aid to his country over this issue.

  16. Not long now until he signs it. When the come back with their proof that gay people are actively choosing to engage in gay sex and going against the norm.

    1. they*

    2. .....Paddyswurds 29 Jan, 11:28am

In your blindness of homophobia, you seem to have missed what he said; He said “Unless I have got confirmation from scientists that this condition is not genetic, He said nothing about choice, sexual or otherwise.

      1. Jennifer 29 Jan, 1:58pm

They will not find any basis of genetics playing a role in someones sexuality. Although there have been tests and a gay man is more likely to have a similar brain to that of a woman and a lesbian to have a similar brain to that of a man. Various factors account to a persons sexuality. Therefore he will sign it into law on that basis. A choice to engage in homosexual relations.

      2. If it’s not genetic then you are choosing to do these things with people of the same sex.

  17. While still describing homosexuality as ‘abnormal’, and likened LGBTI people to ‘mongrels’, Mbabazi said they should still not face life imprisonment or death.

‘I think in our tradition homosexuality is treated as an abnormality,’ he said.

‘Given that as a fact, the next question is how do we treat abnormalities in our society? Do we kill them?

‘If you identify an abnormality and you say ‘Let’s kill homos’, then my conclusion is that you are the one that is abnormal.

‘They need help. How do you treat children who are mongrels? Do you kill them, imprison them for life?’

    1. Well, in the strictest sense it is an ‘abnormality’, inasmuch as being blue-eyed or left-handed is. The question is whether anyone should feel they need to take steps to “correct” or outlaw it or not.

      1. I’m sure they will try to outlaw it. With some mumbo jumbo from their Scientists.

      2. Yes I am aware that being LGBT is for a better word a malformation, deformity, irregularity, flaw etc.

        1. Yes it is an illness. The scientists in this country will prove that and therefore he will not sign the legislation because we are sick. So we are okay. If some how they prove we are equal to straight normal people then they should punish people for choosing to do unnatural things because they are not made that way.

  18. That’s actually a far nicer thing to say then I ever could have imagined coming from the mouth of this man, I’m sure he’s feeling pressure from the west but I’ll still give him some credit.
