I wish these games were cancelled out of respect for this young man. It is a world disgrace that these games are being accepted by athletes and the world. Oh speaks volumes about EGO all around.

    My pennies worth
For the period of the olympics delete the channels from your media boxes. This hurts Russia, sponsors who make money and broadcasters who don’t care either including Claire Baldwin (UK)

If every gay person and one straight friend and one member of their family did this 18 % of the planet would boycott watching the games….Thats a protest. Copy and paste to other notice boards please people.
    Best.

YES, and this HONOUR must be presented – in some way or other-by every participating country which is sharing our view on Gay Rights. Our own newly elected Prime Minister, E.Solberg -(conservative ) recently said that she intends to go Sochi; “politics must not be mixed with LGBTQ rights” is her stupid opinion ! Silly opportunist. And Russia is a neighbouring country to Norway. She has been criticised- but not enough. I really never liked her, through many years.

I correct myself a bit : She meant that Gay Rights were not involved in sports – and that The Sochi Games was not a political event.

If she really thinks the Olympic Games is not political, she must have been living under a rock…
        Hei, forresten :)

Utterly bonkers article. Who the hell are ‘we’ to go lecturing Russia or any other country for that matter? How about Russia ticking us off about how we treat immigrants?

You’re proud of Obama because he says he likes homos? Ok, well let’s forget about Guantanamo, Afghanistan and American drones killing hundreds there and in Pakistan. None of those victims are ‘LGBT people’ (whatever one of those is) so they don’t matter I guess?

    1. We are citizens of the world that’s who we are. We should show our support for injustices wherever they occur regardless of borders. We should not just shrug our shoulders and think not our country not our concern. We need to make the world a fairer place not just our own domains.

Υes, he should be honoured, because he was a real man of values.
