In the same sports report about Thomas Hitzlsperger, it was announced that FIFA have confirmed that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be played during January and February to avoid the summer heat. As we all wish to see homophobia kicked out of football FIFA should reallocate the 2022 finals to a country that has a better LGBT rights record.

Yes, Yes -ye ! It should be reallocated. Giving with one hand- taking with the other. They are jailed by business agreements. Homophobia is awful these states. Not only Qatar.

My heartiest congratulations to Thomas Hitzlsperger. By doing this you raise the issue and change peoples attitudes. You make it uncomfortable for others to keep their homophobic views. You stand in the face of backward religions.

More importantly every young boy or girl who is into sport has a role model as they work out their sexuality.

Thank you for doing this and I hope it makes your personal and professional life easier.

My two gay nieces said it was easier for them as they had me their gay uncle. I was 28 when i came out. They were 17 and 16 respectively and boy don’t pick a fight on gay issues with them…lol

  3. He had a girlfriend, so did my mate. He slowly came to the realisation that he was gay and ended the relationship when he was in his early 20’s and now he’s got more gay in his little finger than the dancefloor at Heaven on a Saturday night. It’s hard to picture him ever having dated a woman or even having the wherewithal to know how to!. He said that it was a change of job following a move that did it. He just met new people and saw the world differently.

Perhaps Thomas didn’t realise he was gay when he was pictured here in ’06. They split in ’07 when he would have been about 25, but not everyone is 100% rock solid sure of their sexuality, she may not have been his ‘beard’. He’s recently changed his ‘job’ and may be surrounded by different people or had the freedom to do and see things he’d never had with his football training regime. Who knows? But he’s not an enemy and he doesn’t deserve ridicule for not waving a rainbow flag off the roof of the stadium every weekend.
