The Catholic leadership, divided from the majority beliefs and opinions of worshipers, take the position that gay men and lesbians are somehow more inclined to short relationships and/or job insecurity. Of course none of them will ever admit that they are not only one of the primary causes of such problems, but are also one of the main obstacles standing in the way of dealing with them.

Instead, we get treated to the choice of “divorce or dole”. No matter what the decision is, it will be used to feed the narrative of gay men and women being somehow more inclined to short relationships and/or job insecurity.

My friend/caretaker Mark says that if he had his life to live over, he’d be a lawyer for the Catholic Church because he would certainly have job security. That’s better than being a New York Cop.

So, Catholic Church recognizes gay divorce, just not gay marriage.

  3. Good old Catholic Church. Love the way it can’t see the irony of its own bigotry. It tries to break relationships apart in the name of its “loving” God

I was raised Catholic and even went to Catholic school. I am now a recovering Catholic. The church will cover up child molesters in its own inner circle, but will judge and condemn the love between two people. Such hippocrits, this is why the catholic church is losing its followers.

  5. marriage is granted by a state, the church does not marry people-they only perform weddings, and there is a separation of church and state-so where does the church have anything to say? it’s not like he got a gay wedding.

Sounds like the church is starting to feel blow-back from all these sackings.

  7. Abusive Catholic control freaks in action again, trying to destroy a loving relationship.

  8. the church-based school can choose to hire or fire whoever they want, and if homosexuality or marriage of gay men is against their school policy, they can choose not to hire the person. it appears that they knew he was gay, but somehow assumed he would never be able to marry and were ok with hiring him? they cannot however expect to have a couple break up a marriage to keep a job, or get one back, and other than for the money i can not see why the man would take a job in a place like that? i am sure there is much to the story that we are not privy to, however at the heart of it, if the idea is they are showing kids bad morals if they keep him on in a gay marriage, they send a clearly bad message if they truly tried to get him divorced and into a “commitment ceremony” instead. that goes against so many of their morals as well. i think they are getting stuck in a mess they wish they had never gotten into.
