  3. Actually id LOVE to find a vaccine against ‘faith’ (religious faith that is). It would probably save more lives than any other vaccine.

    1. there is a vaccine! it causes you to open your eyes and brain to new experiences, not to be scared of the bogey-man and to actually read other books without thinking about the fairy magic prince at all. some scientific research recently showed that a human being who actually thinks for itself has no need for a holy person at all! remarkable, i say!

  4. Typical insincerity from the PR Pope.
He’s not concerned about gay couples or the Vatican’s well documented hostility to them so much as tapping a whole new demographic to convert.

If he was serious about reaching out to kids of gay couples, perhaps he could start by not alienating their parents?

But since the recent ‘gay friendly’ reachout programme is all for show anyhow I won’t hold my breath.

  5. Where does the Church get the idea that children of “GAY” parents have a problem with their faith, It is the parents that are Gay and not them. It is the Church that perceives there is a problem not the child

  6. David Jordan 4 Jan 2014, 4:20pm

Didn’t the Catholic church go on with that nonsense that gays were trying to recruit people’s children? But that’s just what the Roman church is trying to do here, recruit children and turn them against their parents. Cult-like behavour but are any of us really surprised.

Your Church, dear Pope, has been producing a vaccine of hatred for hundreds of years- and injected it into society. Hatred against gays, lesbians and transgender persons. Your Church has created millions of tragedies. And you never utter one word of regret ! Start reading now- start reading about The History of Homophobia. Period.

If I had a child I would not want him/her to have any connection with religion…it is just evil…its a shame to the ones who embrace all people but the evil ones overwhelm and have taken over….Frankie boy just wants to make sure that there are still loons in a few years time and isnt bothered who they are

  9. Francis is giving mixed messages. He seems to give with one hand and take away with the other. Not helpful. He will have to start drawing up some strategy and call his dogs to heel.
The Pope works in mysterious ways.

  10. Product designed to keep predatory priests away from children.
    “Priest Off”

    Gay Bashing
Part 1….. Thomas Tobin, the Bishop of Providence, Rhode Island , “… the teaching of the Church, based on God’s word, that ‘homosexual acts are intrinsically disorderred,’ (Catechism of the Catholic Church, #2357) and always sinful. And because ‘same-sex marriages’ are clearly contrary to God’s plan for the human family, and therefore objectively sinful, …. 5-2-13

Part 2 …..Catholics should examine their consciences very carefully before deciding whether or not to endorse same-sex relationships or attend same-sex ceremonies, realizing that to do so might harm their relationship with God and cause significant scandal to others,” 5-2-13

  12. Who would want to join a church that insults your parents? P.U. Popey

  13. Mumbo Jumbo 4 Jan 2014, 7:08pm

“….How can we proclaim Christ to these boys and girls? How can we proclaim Christ to a generation that is changing? Where will we get our supply of fresh, young rape victims?….”

  14. My children will be brought up with healthy disregard for church. This institution is worried that as each new generation comes along, there’s a little less influence. The best vaccine is education free of religious influence. We should all be pushing for state institutions to be completely secular.

If these religious people want to practise their business, they should do it behind closed doors, away from the possiblity of children seeing it.

  15. I hate to say it dear pope but the church set ‘a vaccine against faith’ in stone many years ago through all it’s corrupted ways…. all that’s happening now is the ever expanding vaccination program, and don’t think that’ll be so easy to stop now that people know there’s a cure to their sickness.

  16. Faith = Belief without evidence

    1. Delusion = Belief held despite superior evidence to the contrary.

  17. In other words, this pope-person’s concern is really: how do we get our mits on those poor kids who’ve got gays for parents – except a pope-person, especially one who’s trying to model himself on the gentle Francis of Assisi, can’t put it so plainly!

  18. He is a very clever man. He can see the hatred isn’t working and is in fact doing the opposite. He is using children to try and change peoples hearts and minds.

There are sadly many people who want religion in their lives and he is giving them new people for his congregation, not just from us but from other religions where the people can’t stomach the hatred being spewed from them. People have very short memories.

    1. Hi David. Your first paragraph is pretty clear and sound, but I think I’m not the only one confused by your expression in your second paragraph. What you mean in that paragraph isn’t clear. I think that’s probably why as of 11.14am on 5 Jan you’re scoring a “-2”.

The Pope is off base thinking “We must be careful not to administer a vaccine against faith to them.”
The biggest issue in our ever growing corrupt world is that “families are administering a vaccine against the faith of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.” As more and more religious institutions are growing away from the Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, every evil grows unrelentingly as immorality, corruption, wars, divorce, drug addition, pornography and selfishness — and we see the world loving themselves and having no desire for justice, love and a desire for knowing God the Creator. Humankind continues in its
love of self and sets up its own god and makes its rules and laws strictly for pleasure.
Looking at history the inevitable end for the USA is already written as shown in the outcome of other major nations..

    1. Floridahank, please become aware that many centuries before that loon Jesus Christ uttered his simple platitudes far cleverer and far wiser people wrote BOOKS full of astounding wisdom and advice on how best to live. For a start, go and read Aristotle’s “Ethics”. Then chuck your Bible, your Koran, your Torah, and so forth, to the back of some cupboard where they belong.

    2. enemy of 'god' 5 Jan 2014, 7:34pm

the biggest vaccine agianst faith IS reading the torah / bible/ gospels / quran

  20. Yes, because the Catholic church really gives a damn about children, doesn’t it?
If you really had child welfare at heart, you’d release all the church’s details regarding its paedophile priests and stop hiding and protecting them.
You then have the cheek to call gay people sinners, evil and perverted?
OH, and Francis, stop pretending to care about gay people. You DO judge them. You’ve changed nothing in the church regarding homosexuality, you “don’t judge” celibate homosexuals, or homosexuals who marry the opposite sex, but you DO STILL judge homosexuals who love and have sex with someone of the same sex.

That’s not what I find a problem, the problem is all the secular, GLBT and moderate religious folk who’ve fallen for your horse-sh*t.
That’s the disappointment. That people can be so gullible. That they can’t be bothered to dig a little deeper to find out what you really think.

  21. Pope Paco is a homophobe. More fool these f**king idiots at Advocate for even imagining that he was remotely on our side. The poison is in everything he doesn’t say.

  22. He’s an evil , fake, insincere cu*t with all his duplicitous pr tripe , much worse than ratzi. Are Advocate magazine an advocate for homophobia now?.

  23. Ullrich Braun 5 Jan 2014, 5:25am

Henk Heithuis died in 1958. For years he was tortured and sexually abused by catholic clergy. According to court records, he was finally castrated to “cure his homosexuality.” This happened under the supervision of a catholic psychiatrist and in a catholic hospital. How many more boys were castrated by the Catholic Church? It is estimated that since 1945 between 10,000 and 20,000 children have been sexually abused by catholic clergy in the Netherlands alone. Der Spiegel 05/04/2011

    1. Ullrich Braun, thank you for this sober reminder of just ONE of the many evils perpetrated by the world’s many religious cults.

  24. Robert in S. Kensington 5 Jan 2014, 12:44pm

Sounds like an act of desperation. He sees the western world changing in it’s acceptance of equal marriage and more Catholics are distancing themselves from doctrine, hence that survey he’s requested. He doesn’t want to be seen as an extremist like his predecessor but I’m afraid it’s a bit too late. I think it’s mere window dressing to distract from the reality that modern Catholics today no longer subscribe to much of the doctrine and in fact reject it. The church is haemorrhaging badly and he knows it.

  25. white squirrel 5 Jan 2014, 7:22pm

reach out to the children of gays – not the gays themselves it is noted

why just children of gays ?- children of straight couples are just as likley to be vaccinated against faith / creationism / misogyny

  26. David Guirao 10 Jan 2014, 5:45am

As membership decreases and as the number of men wanting to become Priests dwindles down to nothing this relic of time gone by known as the Catholic Church will also become just a memory if they don’t learn to accept all that believe in God. We can all worship without the help of a Pope or a church.
