  1. No it’s not. The U.S. LGBT Republicans are pathetic. How on earth can LGBT people align themselves with a viciously homophobic political party?

  2. What is more twisted than a Republican? A gay Republican. They need to wise up fast. Hello boys don’t you know they hate all of us LGBT’s to death?

  3. Why is that every time I hear a Republican open their mouth, utter bullsh*t and tripe about “liberals”, “propaganda” and other such nonsense is spewing forth?

When you read the things this man is saying, you almost imagine a frothing, spitting, radical person, more suited to standing on a street and preaching about the “evil” of “the west”.

    Is this guy gay? Really?!

He sounds like yet another Republican fanatic, shame!

  4. No one cares what the Log Cabin Republicans think. Least of all the party they support.

  5. Context is always everything.

So what is the context of this video?

Is it being shown only in gay bars, gay clubs, gay saunsa, and suchlike? If so, it is entirely appropriate.

If however this ad were to be shown on mainstream television channels that are popular with ALL American citizens, then I think it would be inappropriate for it to feature only YOUNG gay men, NO gay women, and for the gay men to appear almost naked.

    Context is everything.

    1. Whereas miley cyrus twerking half naked on prime time TV is the right context? not that I have a problem with her twerking, but neither do I have a problem if this was shown on prime time TV.

Perhaps, Eddy, context is everything – although it would surprise me if people in gay bars, clubs and saunas would take their time to watch an advertisement about obtaining health insurance policies. What is damaging, regardless of the politics which I probably would support if it was about state provided healthcare, is the standard and lazy stereotype of gay people being young, male, white, beautiful and built-up.

Even if this video were shown in gay clubs and bars, it re-inforces amongst the people in the bar a particular picture and image of what it is to be a gay person. So those who did not meet such a beautiful picture would have to feel excluded and feel less gay.

What is then even worse is that this image of gay people is promoted by the government. So when the video is reproduced on youtube or countless other internet sites or on television, the message to gay people is that this is the picture and image of gay people which the government itself proposes.

  6. Given the amount of sexy woman used to sell just about everything & the music videos which are soft porn why is it that the LGBT is attacked for showing a few half naked gorgeous men

Michael, that’s ridiculous. According to you, if a conservative shoots a person, then it’s acceptable for a liberal to shoot a person.

That logic is absurd. Sexual exploitation is always wrong, no matter who is doing it or how often it is done.

  7. They are more like log closet republicans !

  8. Kevin Young 23 Dec 2013, 10:34pm

Some liberals are being ridiculous in this case.

If the right was sexually exploiting a group in the same manner, there would be outrage.

Sexually exploiting a group, no matter what side of the political aisle one is, is absolutely unacceptable and cannot be tolerated.

Oh, Kevin, RELAX. Now let’s talk about the Victoria’s Secret world that we live in, and then look at who is being victimized.

I find it interesting that nobody here is actually attempting to refute any of what Log Cabin Republicans have been arguing in regards to this controversy.

Rather, people here are simply immaturely defaming the other side of the aisle with malicious comments judging their identities.

  10. Stupid moron republicans against social healthcare. No doubt all these log cabin lot are rich fascists like their straight conservative christian counterparts.

Public and social healthcare is a wonderful and honorable thing. For one, I’d be screwed without the NHS and people who slag it off need a good whipping.

    1. de Villiers 3 Jan 2014, 10:45am

Yes – well. I am for the state healthcare but not like the English NHS which is one of the worst systems of any place where I have lived. There is good healthcare in France, Spain, Italy and Germany – much better than in England. You do not have to wait two weeks to see a doctor and then be squeezed in to a five minute appointment.

The first time I went to a doctor here, she did not even examine me or touch me. I now have private healthcare here but usually wait until I am in France before having anything done or being examined. Amongst all my friends in London who are from the Europe – Spanish, Italians, Germans, other French, all of us really like London and living and working here but none of us likes the healthcare system.

      > people who slag it off need a good whipping.

There were articles in the newspapers recently that a woman who complained that her elderly mother was starved to death in hospital was, in fact, given a “good whipping” and was assaulted because she had made such complaints.

Another, different, woman had graffiti sprayed on her house when she said how nurses had ignored her elderly mother and left her to die in her own urine and diarrhoea. She, too, was given the “good whipping” that you call for.

Another story was about how the gravestone of a child was vandalised because her parents had publicly stated how the death was due to the negligence of the hospital.

Perhaps all these people were not given a good enough whipping. After all, the view seems to be that you should be grateful for what you are given.

I’m as far from Republican as you can get and still be human, and I oppose this video because it’s lame, embarrassing, and displays as much inspiration and appeal as a car crash.
