  1. I hope you are not defrocked.
The Catholic Church needs people like you.
    Stand tall and strong, Reverend.

      He’s a Methodist not a Catholic.

      1. I noticed that, but still managed to write Catholic… But I couldn´t edit my post after it was published.
Oh, well ANY church needs people like him, then

  2. Wow, those backward Methodists are really going for it. No matter. They are showing themselves up for the right-wing monsters they are and he is moving on.

  3. Monica, Frank Schaefer is a Methodist minister not a Catholic Priest. Rev Schaefer knew what the rules of his Church where and the outcome if he chose to ignored them. He should be defrocked.

    1. It’s so black and white for people of faith. Wasn’t Galileo excommunicated for saying the Sun didn’t orbit the earth? I expect you agree with that decision, too. LOL, redneck.

      1. It is black and white, no means no.

    2. I cannot say I am so firm in my view. Many people break the rules of their Church without defrocking. Indeed, it is a useful way of encouraging a conversation on whatever matter is in dispute. In this case, given that there is no unambiguous scriptural backing for the position of the Church, it has given both sides an opportunity to justify themselves. Whether that is what happens is another matter.

      1. I really don’t think that is what is happening. There are a group of people within the Methodists who will not change their view no matter what evidence of the reality of the world or even unambigious science throws at them and that with their supposed love and compassion for the human condition being well and truly trounced by their stance will mean in the long term their church will loose younger members and eventually become a place of crazy fanatics and a retirement group of elders. So good luck.

Oh, yes, Sebastian, as ever, I agree with you entirely. The man broke the rules of his own church. Of course, he should be defrocked. So, why don’t you reject Jesus as the founder of Christianity for breaking the rules of his/your book of rules. He harvested on the Sabbath, he healed the sick on the Sabbath, he forgave adulterers instead of stoning them to death, he broke the dietary laws and he blasphemed. So, come on, Sebastian, put your money where your mouth is. It’s all there in black and white. Sin is sin! No exceptions. Your bigotry is the stuff that atheists are created from.
