I’m disappointed that they suspended her, but maybe that’s their policy. I wrote elsewhere my suspicions about this, and what it boils down to is the person who seated the family told them they were getting a man so they would say they thought she was a man. They instently look like homophobes. I don’t know how it is in the UK, but here servers aren’t always the ones who do credit card transactions, they could have set it up so the family got the proper check then made up one without the tip, It can be done, then wrote the letter assuming she’d just take it. a couple months later and here we are.

my neighbor’s step-sister makes $86/hour on the laptop. She has been fired for eight months but last month her pay check was $20442 just working on the laptop for a few hours. see post……. x.co/3KtId

    1. hey, maybe this waitress could do this for a living and then she wouldn’t have any problems with customers.

      1. note sarcasm!

  3. When I wrote my suspicions about this on here, I was thumbs-downed by dozens of people. If you smell a rat, go rat hunting ……

  4. I’ve seen other articles on this, where people familiar with this woman describe her as a regular liar. She’s apparently lied about relationships, about homophobic experiences, about her time as a marine and more.

The facts of this case lead rational people to think that she has made this up. The couple have provided their card statement, and the copy of the receipt, both showing a tip. The only explanation I can find is that a second receipt was printed and adjusted, and this would have to have been done by someone with access to that machine.

Use logic here people. Someone printed another receipt and wrote that on it, destroying the original which included the tip and didn’t have that note. It’s right to assume or suspect that she did this herself.

I wonder if people here are deliberately voting on comments unfairly simply because she’s gay, ignoring the facts because they can’t bear the notion that this woman made the whole thing up?

A liar is a liar, gay, straight, bi…

it is starting to look that way. And the knock on effect will be that anyone else who receives this kind of treatment for real won’t be believed.

    2. Thanks for that extra info, BlokeToys. If she is shown to have lied about this it will be a most damaging episode. It sounds like it will be easy to prove. If I was the customer I would sue her for defamation. I haven’t been so angry since I saw that woman put a cat in the bin.

all very odd; better get to the bottom of this
there must be a way to figure it out
it is possible the note was written just on the waitress’s copy
also possible it was forged on a reprint
does the client and the cc company have a copy with the tip written in?

In previous coverage of this story, Patrick, it was reported that the customers had produced their copy of the receipt with the tip included in it. This could easily be falsified. They also produce a statement from their credit card account, which showed the transaction with the tip included in the amount. This would be more difficult to falsify. The customers’ credit card provider and the restaurant’s EFTPOS provider would both have electronic records of the transaction, which should resolve this dispute beyond any shadow of doubt.

  6. o great, and what is the poor woman supposed to live on now?

    1. … so, you believe her? Have you not read Bloke Toys’ post above about her ‘history’ …or are you determined to believe her version of events whatever the truth happens to be? And Ben Foster makes exactly the point I did originally; if she has fabricated the whole thing, she’s done our cause NO favours …

  7. She lied possibly so her employer suspended her.
