Trans Media Watch (TMW) has been nominated for Charity Organisation of the Year at the Winter Pride Awards.

TMW works to improve media coverage of transgender and intersex issues in the UK.

The award is given annually to the charity that has best served LGBT people in the UK. The winner is selected by the voting public.

“We are thrilled to be included in this prestigious list,” said TMW Chair Jennie Kermode. “Trans Media Watch is run entirely by volunteers and gets by on a tiny budget, so a nomination like this means a lot. We aim to be a listening organisation and reflect the concerns of trans and intersex people across the UK. We love the idea of the Winter Pride Awards because they’re also about giving ordinary LGBT people a voice.”

Also nominated in the charity category are Stonewall, Galop, the Terrence Higgins Trust and the Albert Kennedy Trust.

The award winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on 8 February.
