  1. He seems to overly aroused by homosexuality, think he needs to calm down and look within.

    1. It’s that simple and he’s too thick to notice.

    2. Isn’t self-loathing the root of ALL homophobia? If only these people realised what their ranting REALLY says about them, they’d be pretty stupid to continue being homophobic, wouldn’t they …?

  2. why is he not charged with anything -it makes me sick people like him go around making these accusations with no comeback.

  3. Humanistjoe 28 Nov 2013, 1:48pm

If he never used to be like this, then maybe it’s the bigots useing subversive propaganda! Maybe his hate streamed to his pupis with that purpose +_+.

I personally feel the bigger issue here is with the integrity of Newham College itself. While one can only hope now that meaningful action is taken to deal with this individual, the College themselves have a lot to answer for here. Taking action only in the light of bad publicity stinks of an establishment who has no real regard for their students or staff.

They need to reveal why was no action taken previously and what changes will be made to ensure that future concerns from staff and students are handled with the best interests of the students and wider College community.

It is evident from this recording that Mark Walcott may himself be considered a harmful source of hateful indoctrination, and – in my view as an experienced educator – does not seem to be an appropriate person to be involved in the education of young minds. It seems that the management of Newham College were more interested in protecting their crony than in providing a safe and healthy education to students.

no action was taken following the internal investigation (his girlfriend happened to be on the board
it was when the you tube video took off he was suspended

      1. Shirley Miller 28 Nov 2013, 7:06pm

I hope they’ve suspended the board too, or at least its chairperson..

  5. Mumbo Jumbo 28 Nov 2013, 1:57pm

[His estranged wife said] “I don’t know where it comes from…..”

Let me help with three possibilities:

    1. He is religious;
    2. He is a closet case;
    3. He is a religious closet case.

    1. Pretty clear to me it’s number 3.

  6. homophobia at its best -he really is aVERY misguided and makes statements which border on being hatred. What agile person this man is. Word of warning he doesn’t drawn breath in the recording http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTD8_CitDZs

  7. I wonder which idiotic christian denomination he belongs to? Oh look here it is http://www.stratfordchurches.co.uk/churches/allnations.html also where he practises psychotherapy. Charismatic evangelical church.

    1. Does he attempt gay “cure” or conversion “therapy” by any chance?

He seems to be in need of a psychotherapist.

  8. Wouldn’t you think that, as a person of colour, this tosspot would be a little more circumspect in his criticism of another minority? Just shows the power of biblical brainwashing and how it can produce the most breathtaking hypocrisy in its followers.

    1. Wouldn’t you think that, as a GAY PERSON, this tosspot would be a little more circumspect in his RACISM of another minority? Just shows the power of biblical brainwashing and how it can produce the most breathtaking hypocrisy in its followers.

      The dirty little secret

    2. There’s nothing particularly biblical about it – it must surely be evident to you, if you look at events around the world, that being part of a minority seldom makes people more sympathetic to other minorities. In fact it usually makes people more determined to find someone lower down the food chain (in their opinion) to stamp on.

    3. I love it when (white) gay folk say people of colour should be super aware of other minorities feelings and needs. Why? Does every (white) gay man check his racism and sexism at the door the day he comes out? Dont think so. Just take a look at the vitriolic bile posted on these pages any time Pink News publishes another of their race baiting

      1. As a white gay man who has experienced hatred, bigotry, intolerence, ignorance and fundamentalist religious poison; then yes, I do have an appreciation of others who themselves are victims of similar intolerence. Are you seriously suggesting that people should not care that some of their fellow humans are being targeted in this fashion? If so, then can you explain the difference in scale between the bigoted Therapist and your own cynicism. Or is it that you just don’t see the value of solidarity?

  9. Kerry Hollowell 28 Nov 2013, 2:21pm

I managed to listen to the first 30 minutes and I’m afraid I couldn’t take any more. The man is a lunatic, he is dangerous and should not hold any position of influence over students and young people ever again

  10. He sounds like he’d be happier living in Uganda.

    1. We’d ALL be happier if he lived in Uganda …

      1. I’d rather have him here in America where he can get fired for what he says then living in Uganda where preaching his hatred could earn him a medal. I know guys like this are the worst people to call themselves Americans, but I would not wish them to other places where LGBT are given the death penalty. They would just add more fuel to the fire and be praised for it, and have tons more followers. Lets now longer wish guys like Mark Walcott to other countries where their words would gain more power and be glad here they can be punished for their hate speech (even if it is only a little slap on the wrist).

    2. I will buy the plane ticket

    3. He admits to being prejudiced. I admit to it too. I admit to being overly fearful of groups of peoples that have a generally lower IQ overall than others. I accept that as mixed race person. Still, I consider each individual on their own merit and this ‘so called’ man cannot.

    4. Or Russia lol

  11. I can’t listen to the full 51 minutes but the first few minutes were enough for me… Gay teachers can indoctrinate children? REALLY?!!! The fact that he equates gay teachers to the KKK is just disgusting.
I can’t even imagine what else he goes on about in his full tirade. Such an uneducated and hateful man. This bloke can frankly go do one…

  12. I’ve yet to see any GLBTQ group running around carrying flaming crosses, wearing silly white sheets with eye holes and lynching people. What a cretin.

  13. Darren Yehuda 28 Nov 2013, 3:50pm

If a teacher’s lifstyle influences students to adopt it, I should think there would be alot more nuns running around than what we presently see.

  14. Colin Cass 28 Nov 2013, 3:58pm

Surely it is time for these ignorant bigots to be driven from positions which are detrimental to the upbringing of gay children. Im sorry to note but it must be said that this vile rhetoric is coming from a black man. How? after all the abuse & bigotry suffered by black people ,does he manage to spew SO MUCH hurt ,damage & hate upon people who are born LGBT! These people Masquerade as Christians, they are SO far from that as they do the devils work!

  15. ..have to be honest here, this excitable moron ought to be put out of his job, literally…since certain people still have this complete mental block on excepting gay people and their lifestyles, those full of stupidity ought really to put up and shut up! I do believe what the last person said/commented—-calm down and look within….

  16. This man is licensed as a therapist? That’s scary.

  17. Some one at Newham College needs to clean up their Staff room and remove (at gun point if necessary) this clearly ignorant ‘Jamacian’ – oh sorry, I mean backward retard – oh no I can’t say that either – but he can rant this poison about me and all biologically born gay people – not the so called righteous religious who choose a lifestyle governed by superstition to hide their hatred behind –

but watch the racist replies from all our spineless liberal ‘brothers and sisters’

    1. I don’t like what you wrote. Jamaican is NOT and should not be interchangeable with “backward retard”. Successful, progressive, innovative and now famous Jamaicans include:

JOHN BARNES (football), BOB MARLEY (music), GRACE JONES (fashion,”that black model before Naomi Campbell” if you didn’t know), JIMMY CLIFF (music and pioneering in an early Blaxploitation film) et al.

I am very proud to be Jamaican having been raised by Jamaican parents (one actively Christian, the other not) – even now they are retired they are not homophobic, they only hate people illegitimately using disabled persons parking bays.

Interchange “Dr” with “backward retard” for sure, because his qualifications are dubious and capacity to execute and articulate knowledge is questionable. Do not try to bring down or tarnish an entire nationality, based on the stupidity of one man.

    2. Well….we are all liberal brothers and sisters if we are gay I guess? At least I remember Gay people being tolerant; I e: liberal?

As a mixed race person I have suffered terrible homophobia from the Caribbean community over the years. But! guess what? it seems to be changing very quickly at last. Even Jamaica (a place I visited and hated in 1990) has an openly Gay Idol now (She-bada) The most popular actor in the country. Well well. Seems that life and times are moving on for many of us. We are able to see through sexuality AND race. Still. some of us are unable to keep up with that. Only a few hangers on are still Jamaican and homophobic or still not Jamaican and hating Jamaicans for the past. I do detest backward people of all kinds ;)

  18. The discredited british psychotherapy association needs to clean up it’s act with these loons. And if he is just another unregistered psychotherapist charlatan, there are still the registered disreputable psychotherapy “profession” working in the NHS also offering homophobia and hate via bogus/fraudulent/abusive “cure” techniques.

  19. He needs big c@ck to sh@ve up his ass!

  20. “Dr” Mark Walcott has the mentation of a slow 12 year old who has been exposed to homophobic propaganda all his life.
Of course I’m sure there are many 12 year old’s who would have a much more sane and rational understanding of human nature than does Mr Walcott.

  21. Perfoing arts you say……. He isn’t likely to encounter gays there at all! What’s that? You think he went into performing arts cause the number of gays in the area but never had to balls to do anything about it or got burned by an encounter? Me thinks so too!!

  22. James Campbell 28 Nov 2013, 11:52pm

And I have prejudices about people who are appointed to well-paid positions which allow them to influence the attitudes of young people and speak so much rubbish every time they open their mouths. I would like to know who appointed this clown to the staff of the college or did he get in on the nod? As a part-time university lecturer (the rest of the time I work in mental health) I know how rigorous the selection process can be and this report casts a shadow over the management of Newham College. As for Walcott being a psychotherapist (which is not the same as a psychologist or psychiatrist), the same questions could be directed to whoever approved his qualification.

    1. Well said James. How on earth did he manage to get and maintain his accreditation?

  23. @SaferSex

    Physician, heal thyself!

  26. An even greater scandal is that this odious lecturer’s ranting fit was last year, staff complained to the Principal and she did nothing about it. One wonders about the nature of the relationship between the Bigot and the Principal…?

    1. Was she one of his baby mothers?

  27. Don Harrison 29 Nov 2013, 9:46am

    What does he know?

  28. Lou Fioravanti 29 Nov 2013, 10:08am

    OMFG….makes one feel so depressed

    1. Midnighter 29 Nov 2013, 5:49pm

Chin up, Lou. The only person who should be depressed is Mark Walcott now that he can’t escape public ridicule for his idiotic views.

This story is being reported by the mainstream media on the basis of its offensive homophobia (by ITV amongst others http://www.itv.com/news/london/2013-11-28/newham-college-crisis-principal-steps-down-as-itv-news-exposes-homophobia/). I find it encouraging that something that once would not have even been worth reporting is now creating outrage outside of the LGBT community.

A stupid man with hateful views gets publicly vilified for his stupidity and his career is in jeopardy; that’s a “win” in my book.

  29. I gave up after four minutes. the bloke is a shambolic excuse for an educator. If he doesnt like peoples sexuality spilling over into their work as a teacher then they shouldnt wear a wedding ring, be called Mrs if they are female, get pregnant or talk about their husband/wife. Thats what I love about ‘phobes of all persuaions, they pick and choose how their answer to ‘the problem’ works.

The scarey thing is that he is very definitely bringing his religious leanings into how he deals with colleagues and pupils. Even going so far as to tell his colleague that his opinion is not an opinion but a ‘fact’.

What is most shameful is that if this was done on school property then it is a disciplinary issue and as such he should have been dealt with effectively and efficiently. If the school did indeed sweep it under the carpet then the head and chair of governors should resign immediately as they cannot provide pupils a safe learning environment if their staff hold such views.

  30. Just goes to show that even a doctorate doesn’t guarantee intelligence ……

    1. Doctorate? from where? sounds like he bought his doctor status on ebay.

  31. Send him over to Russia. He would fulfil a number of their criteria in pretty much the same manner as their leadership!

  32. We wouldn’t allow the BNP to teach their dangerous rubbish, and this repugnant bigot shouldn’t be allowed either.

  33. soapbubblequeen 30 Nov 2013, 3:48pm

This moron should be SACKED! Toute suite! What a total douchebag!

  34. John Lameck 1 Dec 2013, 4:34am

Judge NOT lest ye be judged!

  35. Frank Boulton 1 Dec 2013, 7:40am

To me, he just seems to be rambling incoherently. I don’t think that this is homophobia. It’s just madness. He needs treatment, not punishment.

  36. this started with cardinal George in Chicago calling the gay pride parade a KKK event. All he was trying to do is create more hatred of gays in the black community. As you prob know it backfired and the 5 votes we needed to get marriag eequality in Illinois – we got 6

AS usual the cardinal has hidden sex starved priests and even tried to get the sentence of a child rapeist priest reduced.

Yet the church sticks to its celibacy rule for the last 1000 years.
    Here are some examples.

His attitudes are not surprising considering the fact that he comes from Jamaican culture. Several years ago, Time magazine had a front page article suggesting that Jamaica might be the most homophobic place on earth. Any Commonwealth countries that promote such bigotry & discrimination should be drummed out of the Commonwealth.
This would not be without precedence. Back in the 1950′s following the passage of the apartheid laws in South Africa , my country, Canada, was at the forefront of the successful efforts to have the country ousted from the Commonwealth. Following the release of Nelson Mandela & the abolition of the apartheid tyranny; they were welcomed back into the Commonwealth.

  38. Welcome to the institutional homophobic world! He refers to ‘gayism’ as an ideology but forget about the all pervasive destructive ideology ‘straightism’ that has brought so much misery. He also forgets that pre-colonial world was not homophobic (at least as we experience it today) and people pre-colonial Africa, Asia and elsewhere had same-sex relationships.
