  1. I suppose it’s better than nothing, but this is sadly all you get when you’ve got a reactionary right wing government imposing austerity on its people and pandering to racist and homophobic extremists every step of the way.

That is a very simplistic explanation for a very complicated economic issue.

One small step for equality, certainly at least ahead of Italy.

  3. This is slightly better than no legislation, but it doesn’t confer many rights beyond recognition and registration. Already, the Orthodox clergy have voiced strong opposition, and one Metroplitan, Seraphim of Piraeus has vowed to excommunicate any legislator who votes in favor of the legislation.

The Orthodox anathamatise more people than you’d imagine. The clergy excommunicate each other with alarming frequency. Not sure it amounts to much

  4. It’s a welcome step on the way to equality.
Such a shame there is no way to gag the squawking religious mafia who parrot the same anti-gay nonsense in opposition to any move toward gay equality.

  5. What kind of “protections” does Italy offer?

This Bishop sued the actors and director of Corpus Christi on “blasphemy”. Check it out, it was one year ago. These days the weather is variable here, in Greece. Sexual orientation is considered one minute in and one minute out of the hate speech law, to be discused next few days in parliament. New Democracy, the main party in government, is no ordinary European right wing, my dears. Just a few months ago, half of them considered a possibility to co-operate with Golden Dawn Nazists.
