Police in the east London borough of Hackney are trying to trace a suspect linked to a string of thefts from gay men.

On Monday afternoon, the Metropolitan Police Service announced that it was appealing for information to locate 30-year-old Michael Lawrence.

Mr Lawrence is described as a black male, 6ft and of a muscular build.

He often uses other names and is known to frequent the Hackney, Camden, Southwark and Tower Hamlets areas of the capital.

All the victims targeted by the suspect have been gay men, the Met said.

Anyone with any information as to the whereabouts of Mr Lawrence is asked to contact Hackney police on 101, quoting reference 4618456/13 or anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Police have warned people not to approach Mr Lawrence but instead call 999.
