X Factor’s James Arthur in spat with Lucy Spraggan over his use of the word ‘queer’

James Arthur has found himself amid a new Twitter drama, despite quitting the microblogging site this week, as fellow X Factor contestant Lucy Spraggan tweeted a text conversation between the two containing a heated disagreement over his use of the word “queer”.

X Factor winner Arthur earlier this week left Twitter following criticism for using homophobic language against another artist in a “rap feud”.

In Arthur’s rap at Micky Worthless, he said: “You f***ing queer. Hilarious, precarious you Talibani confused, imbellic mimic of a gimmick.”

Lucy Spraggan, who quit the X Factor in November 2012 due to illness, tweeted a text conversation she had with Arthur in which the pair have a disagreement over the lyrics.

In the message which appeared to be from Arthur, he said: “Lucy what are you playing at having digs at me. Is it coz you’re a gay rights activist you had to say something as extreme as ‘people kill themselves every day over words like queer’ are you for real? You not think you’re being a bit over the top? Do you want attention or something? Sorry I didnt (sic) tweet you’re (sic) album link I’ve been busy buy you didn’t need to be so two faced.”

He goes on: “My album sold 10 times youres (sic) in it’s (sic) first week so you can f*ck off with you’re (sic) career sh*te… Stop reading the press ‘mate’… Real people don’t care.”

The openly gay singer, Spraggan, responds: “Real people are people you arsehole. 10 times in the first week hahahahahaahahaha. Good I’m glad. Enjoy.”

To his assertion that Spraggan is a “two faced fickle attention seeker. Disappear”, she said: “I think you’ll do that far before I do.”

After tweeting the conversation, Spraggan sent another message:

Later, the star tweeted again to say: “Don’t f*ck with the gays.”

After apparently rejoining Twitter (he said he was going to leave management of his Twitter account to his PR), what appeared to be Arthur sent a message suggesting he was the subject of a “witch hunt”.
