  1. Well done on the Lib Dems in the Scottish Parliament on having 100% of it’s MSPs voting in favour of marriage equality, only the Greens can claim the same record – although I realise they only have 5 and 2 MSPs respectively.
The bigger parties – SNP, Labour and Conservatives – won’t be able to say that 100% of their MSPs will vote in favour of marriage equality, although they all have considerably more MSPs. These 3 parties are tainted by having homophobic bigots in their ranks, and many of them in senior positions too.
I actually feel a wee bit sorry for the Lib Dems in Holyrood. Their Parliamentary contingent was annihilated by voters because of Lib Dem MPs in Westminster going against their pledge on tuition fees.

BennieM, I thought 97 of out 129 are expected to vote in favour? Correct me if I’m wrong. Either way, it will be a massive victory.

      1. Yes, you’re right, if news reports are true. But it’s still disappointing that there are quite a few homophobes in senior political positions in Scotland. There aren’t enough of them to de-reail this vote, but they are still there, claiming their hefty MSP and ministerial salaries, and abusing their responibilties, while the parties do nothing about them. They’d throw racists and sexists out quick enough but let the homophobes stay. Look at Bill Walker, a perfect example. The SNP said nothing when he spouted homophobic bigotry yet didn’t hesitate to kick him out when the domestic violence allegations first hit the headines. It just makes me so angry that homophobia is still tolerated in political life.
