and the Cardiff Lions rugby team won the sports award….

    1. and the Quaker Lesbian & Gay Fellowship won the Community Group award and got a standing ovation, but you wouldn’t think so from reading the Pink Paper.

  2. Surprised that there was no mention of the Evening Standard and the Independent. I don’t read the Metro, but the Evening Standard provided fantastic support for Equal Marriage with numerous editorials and features. Don’t they have runners up?

Similarly, if Bigot of the Year can be awarded to a corporate body, the BBC should at least have had a dishonourable mention. Radio 4’s ‘Today’ programme had at least two highly sympathetic interviews with virulently anti-gay politicians without allowing any other viewpoint to be heard. When the SSM bill received Royal Assent it was buried away in the middle of their half-hour bulletin, just two sentences.

Agreed. The Evening Standard was steadfast in its support of EM. I also agree the BBC should have been given a huge dishonourable mention, almost as bad as the Mail and Telegraph.

The Daily Mail and Telegraph would have more than qualified for an award, along with C4M, Christian Concern and Anglican Mainstream for bigots of the year in my estimation.

  4. More recently CBBC is giving the Sochi games lots of positive publicity, but Newsround has still not mentioned anything about the discrimination in Russia.

Well at least us Yakees won something
