It passed by 61-54, the 15th state!

    1. And as of just about half an hour ago, the senate has approved the changes made in the house version. It goes now to the Governor, who has been lobbying for this bill intensively.

Marriages will start June 1, 2014.

Interesting that marriages will start June 1, 2014, probably around the same time as ours will in the UK. Illinois it seems is taking a far longer time to implement the new law, longer than any other state I believe.

It required 60 instead of 71 votes to pass if it was implemented on that date rather than in 30 days, as it could have been when passed in the veto session.
