A man accused of killing a 62-year-old gay man in Brighton is to go on trial this week.

Ricardo Pisano, 36, of Southampton, Hampshire, denies murder and grievous bodily harm.

The body of Michael Polding was discovered at his home in St George’s Road in the Kemptown area of Brighton in July last year.

At the time of discovery, it’s believed Mr Polding had been dead for around two months.

He moved to the seaside city in 2011 in order to start a new life for himself.

His partner, Henry, died in 2001.

A jury panel has been selected at Lewes Crown Court ahead of a trial which expected to last five weeks.

Prosecutor Philip Katz QC is due to open the Crown’s case on Wednesday.
