  1. Agreed.

And does this closet case also think that huge corporations like Apple should be banned from using their myriad of tax avoidance schemes.

Apple is notorious for not paying tax.

Hard to imagine that the U.S. still doesn’t provide protection for LGBT workers in this day and age. Tim Cook has never publicly acknowledged that he is gay even though I applaud him for speaking up about ENDA. So much for the supposed freest country on earth. Liberty and justice for all evades gay Americans and society permits it. Say what we want about the UK, we’re far better off in more ways than one.

  3. I just don’t understand why this measure has taken so long to enact in the so-called ‘Land of the Free’. Presumably that phrase in the National Anthem indicates that the constitution has always been used by bigots as selectively as some use the bible when it comes to gay rights …

Of course. I’ve often heard it said that Americans enjoy more personal freedoms than any other. Another fallacy I would think since gays do not enjoy full equality across the entire country. We’ve done a far better job and more to do.

Notwithstanding the 10 Republicans who crossed the Senate floor to support this bill, the Republican Party long ago declared outright war on LGBT Americans, and promised to frustrate ANY thing Barack Obama would bring to House of Representatives, to the extent of shutting down the US government. The GOP view of Democracy is thus the rule of Tyranny of the Majority.

The already substantially watered down ENDA should therefore be immediately withdrawn until Democrats resume control of Congress. Decades in the waiting, so a few months more won’t hurt.
