Manchester: Gay community asked to take part in drug and alcohol focus group

Members of the gay community in Greater Manchester who use drugs and/or alcohol are being urged to join a focus group by the Lesbian & Gay Foundation.

The ‘Part of the Picture’ research project, delivered by the LGF and the University of Central Lancashire, is exploring drug and alcohol use among gay and lesbian people.

It’s hoped those taking part will talk about their experiences of accessing help, advice or support for drug and/or alcohol use.

The focus group will be held in November at the LGF’s Community Resource Centre in Manchester.

Drug use among the LGBT population is generally higher than for heterosexuals.

At the start of the year, a report in the Lancet showed there had been a rise in the use of crystal meth on London’s gay scene in the past 12 months.
