David Haye says boxer Tyson Fury went ‘too far’ with his anti-gay tweets
David Haye has criticised fellow British boxer Tyson Fury who last week made a series of homophobic and expletive-strewn comments on his Twitter account.
David Haye is due to fight Fury in Manchester on 8 February. “I’m counting down the days until I’m able to step in the ring and punish Fury for being the complete idiot he is,” Haye told The Sun. “His latest homophobic rant aimed at myself, Lennox Lewis and [Vitali and Wladimir] Klitschko has really taken things too far.”
In March, Fury was fined £3,000 for making homophobic remarks on Twitter; he referred to another boxing pair as being “gay lovers” and said he would take the fine “on the chin”.
