  1. ..Mr Young is completely right in pointing this out. For starters teachers, and parents are plain scared to tell kids real sensible truths about homosexuality. And the terms which are used in Society are misleading. Remember you can still have sex with someone of your own sex and not be or act GAY!! Anyone understand…????

  2. As a nation, we are pathetically childish when it comes to sex. Holland, by contrast, seems incredibly grown-up. Homophobia begins in school. When I was at school, the most homophobic kids would often be seen, later in life, frequenting gay bars and saunas. Until we tackle the CAUSE of homophobia (often driven by self-hatred and a fear of ones own inner same-sex attraction), kids will continue to be bullied and to take their own lives. Outlawing use of the ‘G’ word (as happened with ‘N’) would be a start and anyone who continues to do so should be questioned about the REASONS for their homophobia. A homophobe exposed as a closet gay would certainly think twice before exposing themselves (pun intended) again. As he later admitted, The Admrial Duncan bomber was motivated to hurt gay people because of the angst caused by his OWN suppressed homosexual desires.

You will most likely find religious indoctrination either to the child or the parents at the back of that.

  3. I came out later in life and have teen children, My own children used the term around me, they didn’t have a clue they were using the word negatively and building a negative view of the word.

I explained that to them and reminded them of how boys use “Stop being such a girl” in the same way and do they like the word girl being used as a something bad. They stopped using it.

  4. Who cares what this idiot thinks?

Why exactly is he an idiot?

The definition of an idiot is:
      1. A foolish or stupid person.
      2. A person of profound mental retardation having a mental age below three years and generally being unable to learn connected speech or guard against common dangers. The term belongs to a classification system no longer in use and is now considered offensive.

Your comment itself adds nothing to the overall point of his article, therefore, making you an idiot.

Will Young, whether you like his music or not, has a valid point. Parents and schools alike need to take charge of the way their children behave. Bullying needs to stop and kids need to be penalised when they do/say negative things. Like my own mum says: “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.”
