  1. “…. PinkNews founder Benjamin Cohen at number 7”

Should have been much higher up

    1. PS Why isn’t Chris Ward anywhere to be seen on the list?

      1. Benjamin Cohen 13 Oct 2013, 12:33pm

yep it’s a shame they didn’t include Chris or Conor and James from C4EM. All are mentioned at the PinkNews Awards though…

  2. Why do you report such non-news when gay people are beaten by police today in “olympic” Russia? Do you support Putin, PinkNews?

    1. Helen Wilson 12 Oct 2013, 11:53pm

Because while Russia is an important issue… but it is still one in many LGBT news stories around the world. People would soon stop reading if we only had stories from Russia 24/7.

      1. So you pretty much endorse the anti-gay Olympics in Sochi. I support your courage!

Litper, how have your reasoning skills come up with that inference? That is not what Helen was implying in the slightest. The oppression of LGBT people under Putin is appalling. Yet it is not the only newsworthy LGBT issue in the world today. There are places in the world – such as Islamic theocracies in the Middle East – where LGBT people are oppressed far more ruthlessly than in Russia. Rather than restrict news reporting exclusively to the oppression of LGBT people in the world, of which there is far too much, it is empowering for us to celebrate individual and community success and progress. There is no need for the needle to get stuck in negative news.

  3. I love that people are recognised but Paris Lees is simply not a good writer try as I may to follow what this person writes. It is a bit disconcerting that these lists like so many others are about PR power and not quality.

    1. Yes, unfortunately they are.. But people take them so seriously and my FB feed wash awash with people bemoaning the fact the were ‘bumped off’ this year or never get listed. It just opens a door for people to get all whiny about how much they do and how little they are recognised in a passive aggressive plea to all their ‘friends’ to tell them how marvelous they are.

      Desperate, really.

Excellent recognition for your contribution and global importance of this site – congratulations

The Pink List was good but it makes very little notice of those at the launch of Equal Marriage bill, now act. Those who nursed it through including Simon Williams and Stephen Gilbert both MPs. Baroness Liz Barker who outed herself in one of the readings of the Bill in the Lords. It is good that Benjamin Cohen.
And of course those who had to work very hard behind the scenes including Adrian Trett and Ed Fordham, I know there were others but I can not include them all.
