NOW: Gay boxer Orlando Cruz to wear rainbow shorts against homophobia

Gay boxer Orlando Cruz is to wear rainbow shorts in protest against homophobia in a fight in Las Vegas on Saturday.

The boxer retweeted a blog post including an image of the shorts, which he will wear against Orlando Salido at the Thomas & Mack Center on Saturday.

The 32-year-old went public about his sexuality in October 2012 and became boxing’s first openly gay professional fighter in the process.

Cruz announced his engagement to long term boyfriend José Manuel on Facebook in August.

The couple are set to marry next month in New York.
