  1. Is this why we are having to wait another year before we can get married?

More pointless consultations with religious organisation!

It’s one of the many reasons why we’re having to wait a year, actually less than a year now. There are thousands of rules, regulations and laws affecting implementation of the Marriage Bill apparently, directly or indirectly. It appears we have more bureaucracy than any other country where SSM is legal.

  2. The church(es) that want to have SSM ceremonies should have them.

The church(es) that don’t want to have SSM ceremonies shouldn’t have them.

What’s so difficult about that? I really can’t see why any consultation is needed.

Anyone would think that the building would need to be fumigated after an SSM service had been held !

For some religious nutters, an exorcism would be warranted in response to your last sentence.

So churches that are against equal marriage are still trying to deny the right to churches that are in favour. They should not be given a veto where premises are shared.
