  1. There isn’t anything non-traditional about gay relationships, this irrational anti gay law is complete BS any way you look at it.

They’re delusional at best, utterly corrupt at worst. Everybody knows exactly what the score is, so repeated denials by the IOC that there is any sort of problem show their true money-grabbing human-rights-ignoring nature. They are unfit to govern at all now, nobody could ever have any faith in any members of the committee and they must all be replaced.

The Sochi games should be postponed until 2015, to give time for the IOC to be reformed, and a thorough examination of the situation. If Russia will not remove this law the games cannot go ahead there, and FIFA cannot host the games in Qatar. Nations which have poor human rights records also should not be allowed to participate.

Human rights are not politics, they are the starting block on which all nations must agree, irrespective of political system. They are foundational.

Why would the IOC use its influence against Putin’s regime, either they are personal friends of Putin, or he has paid them enough to look the other way. The only real way forward is for us to call for a total boycott of Russia and the games including all the sponsors.

    I like this idea.

“Russian gays should sport Coke, McDonald’s and Visa logos while being arrested”

That would put the wind up these “sponsors” of bigotry.

  5. Excellent statement of Amnesty. Just the truth.

COI sold the Sport dignity. Nothing less.

Athletes are morally obliged to boycott COI.
