Lance Bass has claimed that he knows “tons” of gay celebrities who are in the closet, but that he would not out them.

Appearing on Bethenny Frankel’s show Bettheny, on 19 September, the former NSYNC star played a game of “Would You Ever”, backstage.

Pulling out the question “Would you eve lie to help a closeted celebrity stay closeted?”, he responded to say: “Yes I would and I have.”

Continuing, he said:  “I know tons of celebrities that are in the closet right now. But it’s up to them to decide if they want to come out or not. And I will support any decision they make.”

Bass came out in 2006, and the 34-year-old said last year on Ricki Lake that he was scared that if he had come out during the NSYNC years, he would have “completely ruined” the band.

“I didn’t tell a single person when I was with NSYNC, I didn’t tell a friend a family member nothing like that,” he said. “As long as I was with NSYNC, I didn’t date a guy, I was completely asexual.”

He continued: “I would rather be in a position where I could help other people than be the biggest superstar in the world and pretend to be straight.”

Bass recently spoke out about an alleged incident during which Chris Brown called Frank Ocean a “faggot”, and said the R&B star should face jail as the “only way to” be rehabilitated.

He also commented on Rihanna’s former relationship with Brown, saying: “I hope Rihanna understands what she is in,” he said. “I see it happen so many times in couples, where it’s like an abusive relationship and you don’t know it’s an abusive relationship.

In 2010, Lance Bass admitted that he used to join in with teasing gay kids at school to hide his own sexuality.
