A commentator for the National Rifle Association (NRA) has compared Starbucks’ new anti-gun policy to homophobic discrimination.

Colion Noir, a 29-year-old attorney and news commentator for the NRA, has responded to Starbucks’ recent open letter requesting that customers no longer bring guns into their stores, even in states where it is legal to openly carry a firearm.

Mr Noir filmed his response “in the wake of Starbucks coming out the proverbial anti-gun closet.”

He continues to say: “Yes, I said anti-gun — because when you request that I don’t bring my gun with me into your store, that’s an anti-gun stance. Think about it. When you say, ‘We’re not pro-or-anti-gay but please all gay people – we respectfully ask that you not bring your gayness into the store. I mean, we’ll still serve you, but if you can leave the gayness at the door, we would much appreciate it.’

“Now if that’s what they said I highly doubt Tom Ford would go start designing a black Tuscan coffee signature cologne in support of this stance.”

Tom Ford is an openly gay American fashion designer and director, who directed the Oscar-nominated film A Single Man, starring Colin Firth.

The video has come in response to Starbucks announcement last week that the corporation was “respectfully requesting that customers no longer bring firearms into our stores or outdoor seating areas—even in states where “open carry” is permitted—unless they are authorised law enforcement personnel.”
