The Transgender Equality Network Ireland (TENI) will open its doors weekly in order to discuss lobbying for gender recognition.

TENI will host Talk Trans Tuesdays, every week, in order to push forward Gender Recognition legislation in Ireland.

“We have a lot of work before us,” said Advocacy and Communications Manager Dr Orlaith O’Sullivan, to GCN.

“At the moment, it looks likely that the State’s Gender Recognition legislation will be published in the middle of 2014. We have months and months of advocacy work ahead.”

The group hopes that Talk Trans Tuesdays will provide a hub for activism on trans rights.

The sessions will provide drop-in opposrunities to find out who local politicians are, and will provide the opportunity to pair people up with Advocacy Buddies, to lobby alongside them.

“By keeping TENI updated on the lobbying meetings, we can build up a map of trans support in Ireland – and we can figure out where we need to raise our voices!”

More information is available at TENI on Facebook.
