Interesting development. I wonder if Elton is about to discover the decision on whether he performs or not is out of his hands.

I bet Elton will be banned. He has to be if they’re banning Selena Gomez who supports LGBT rights but really hasn’t said much about it. I hope they ban him because it will only make the case stronger that the Russian regime is a homophobic nation to the rest of the civilised world. Perhaps it will ignite widespread condemnation from the entertainment world.

  2. As predicted, Putin’s “promotion of non traditional sexual relationships to minors” law can be used to prevent ANY political oppoition to Russia’s anti-gay legislation. No surprise there, then.

  3. Now for the Olympic athletes?

  4. So they ban her for supporting LGBT rights, but they’re allowing Elton to perform?

I guess she doesn’t have some powerful friends in the Russian government like Elton has!

  5. This is crazy: do they think Salena Gomez is going to go around “promoting homosexuality” in any form?

She’s got such a “good girl” image and going by her demographic, I doubt she’s going to be the type to use leather bears as her back up dancers in concert.

  6. Sounds rather odd, if Elton can play there, and Selena whose LGBT advocacy is close to zero has been “banned” for “suppoting gay rights”.

Can you tell me how you checked this story, please?

  7. Never heard of her, and there’s no particular evidence in this article of her support for gay rights.

Is this just a PR puff from her people?

  8. Selena, I love you like a love song baby.

  9. After some minimal searching I can’t find evidence supporting the premise that she has had her visa denied because she’s supportive of LGBT.
As I read through news articles the reported denied visa story quickly transformed into her being banned from entering Russia because of her views.
We’re all aware of Russia’s abhorrent stance and that it’s entirely believable that a ban like this could be imposed but I would like to see evidence or credible testimony for this specific case before condemning.
