  1. I’m amazed the daily fail didn’t want to hang on to this bigoted woman at all costs – she sums up their eminently strange desires to marry their pets perfectly.

Sorry but if you read more carefully we are told the Daily Fail is hanging onto her – she’ll be resurrected “at some point shortly as part of a revamp of the middle pages of the paper.”

Without bigotry comprising homophobia, misogyny and racism, the Mail wouldn’t exist. It thrives on it as do its readers. It’s arguably the bastion of UK yellow journalism along with all the other rags with a right wing agenda.

  2. I reckon shes finally lost it!

  3. She’ll find a new outlet to drip poison, don’t you worry. She’s threatening to find an online outlet for her swivel-eyed rantings.

    1. ChrisMorley 20 Sep 2013, 10:08pm

Did you spot this quote in the article, Steve?
“she’s certainly not leaving the Mail. The column is moving at some point shortly as part of a revamp of the middle pages of the paper.”

This article also reveals she already has her own blog

    2. Probably a Jewish matchmaker’s most difficult assignment.

      1. Yes, because of course a sneering reference to Jewishness is always helpful in such a discussion, isn’t it?

  4. I have NEVER heard a liberal or a gay person talk about how much they want to marry a rock or a dog or a dead person… The obsession with illegal, nonconsensual marriage (and its concomitant pedophilia or necrophilia, etc.) ONLY and ALWAYS comes from Republicans and Conservatives…

Even a person of moderate intelligence should know that rocks and dogs and horses and dead people–yes, even hamsters–are not capable of entering themselves into legal civil contracts such as marriage…

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, how on earth such a decent and intelligent man like Joshua Rozenberg can ride this vile creature is a total mystery to me. It’s gotta be hate sex.

    1. Melanie herself was Oxford educated. Her articles appealed to people’s most primitive hatreds but she herself is not unintelligent. A bigoted twat yes though. That’s what’s worrying.

      1. errrrrr, her, intelligent? how? please explain

      2. All you need is application and a good memory to get through Oxford, intelligence is another matter entirely.
If Melanie Phillips ever possessed intelligence she has nevertheless wasted it writing garbage for the gutter press.
While pandering to prejudice brings her popularity with the likes of the Mail’s readership, it’s always worth noting that popularity is not synonymous with respect.

    2. Probably a Jewish matchmaker’s most difficult assignment.

      1. Yes, because of course a sneering reference to Jewishness is always helpful in such a discussion, isn’t it?

Demented freak but then the Daily Hate Mail is a freak show anyway.

  7. I will never forget her appearance on question time when she went into a tirade of ranting about Islam and defending poor old Israel at all cost.
The audience went full cow-herd on her! lol

I have to say though, it’s always surprising to me when I hear someone with some intelligence and language skills preaching intolerance and hatred, you normally expect fascists to be dribbling knuckle-draggers like Tommy Robinson.

Melanie was a little different. She could still say the most pathetically stupid things, but they were interspersed with some common sense occasionally. Still, the complete lunacy of a lot of the bullsh*t she allowed to pass her lips often destroyed any of her reasonable points of course.

Glad to see the back of her, but I wonder which rabid nutter the Daily Fail will hire to fill her massive clown shoes?

    1. She is a Zionist extremist and therefore dangerous. Unfortunately, Britain has a Zionist Lobby which is full of people like her who would wish to bend British foreign policy in favour of Israel at all times though thankfully this lobby isn’t as ridiculously powerful as it is in the USA. The existence of that strong lobby is one of the main reasons countries like France and Germany keep a certain distance between them and America and we would be wise to take a similar stance.

      1. There are plenty of things to criticise Israel for, but I’m not sure that it asked that mad cow to be its apologist.

      2. Robert in S. Kensington 21 Sep 2013, 12:36pm

And it’s people like her who invite anti-semitism by some of the comments she makes, very sad. There is a big question mark over her ‘intelligence’. I support Israel’s right to exist but such support doesn’t necessarily mean I support everything it does in regard to the Palestinian situation. Phillips would never tolerate any criticism of Israel and would be the first to play the anti-semitism card, yet has no scruples about making some of the vilest homophobic comments I’ve ever read and heard in the media. She of all people as a member of an often maligned ethnic minority should know better. Very sad she’s resorted to bigotry the very thing that helped bring about the holocaust.

        1. There is a MASSIVE difference between antisemitism and criticism of Israel. Defenders of the Israeli government like to paint the two as the same thing, as a method of attacking anyone who dares to criticize.
It’s like being called a racist for suggesting Zimbabwe’s government is abusive to its people and corrupt to the core.

Thankfully this card has been played so many times hardly anyone can retain credibility when they use it, and she is a good example of that.

  8. Is she off for a nice holiday under a bridge somewhere ?

  9. mel phillips, prime example of intellectual stagnation

  10. She also believes it’s OK for the Isreali army to invade Palestinian territory because King David got there first (that’s actually the reason she gives). See her blog…. or rather don’t.

  11. Free at last!!! The Daily Mail is free from sock con imbecility from this dreadful hack at last!!!

    1. ChrisMorley 20 Sep 2013, 10:04pm

Here’s a quote from the article you seem to have missed, Craig
“she’s certainly not leaving the Mail. The column is moving at some point shortly as part of a revamp of the middle pages of the paper.”

  12. She is truly a hate-filled person. I almost (almost) feel sorry for her. She lives her life in a sea of bile.

  13. keep hearing the gay community slagging off the daily snail, but then why do so many queens still buy it!!

    1. Some of us read it on line, free of charge.

    2. Robert in S. Kensington 21 Sep 2013, 12:22pm

I for one don’t buy it and I’m sure the majority of us don’t. It’s available free on line if you want to catch up on homophobic bigots such as Phillips et al.

    3. I’m very proud to say that I don’t know a single person who buys any tabloid paper.

Their sales are shrinking and have been for decades. They are attempting to survive by cutting back and moving on line, surviving on advertising revenues. But with the wealth of genuine citizen journalism increasing across the world and younger people moving more and more to “Horses mouth” journalism of events and stories as they happen, this decline is only set to continue until all national press and papers are defunct.

The same is happening to traditional broadcast media too, with American “news” stations also seeing a massive decline in viewership. This is primarily about a complete loss of trust in national broadcasters, with the BBC, Fox and others openly being called out for propaganda.

  14. Joshua Rozenberg usually keeps hamster Melanie Phillips running on a treadmill he had specially made to keep her entertained in her cage. She gets a food pellet as a treat for every word she manages to spell out on another in-cage contraption.

I saw Joshua walking Melanie in Floral Street Covent Garden recently and she wasn’t even on a lead, I thought that was a bit risky.

  15. Please be due to a terminal illness…please be due to a terminal illness…please be due to a terminal illness…please be treated by a gay doctor…

    1. … or let what I wish on her come true (most, even half, even just 10%).

    2. That’s a bit harsh.

  17. What? The Fail forcing one of its Arch Bigots off its pages? What on earth is happening? Is the disgusting homophobic rag finally realising its ancient readership with prehistoric views is dying and younger, more enlightened readers are not coming along to replace them because of the paper’s vile editorial policies towards gay people? Personally, I’ve always got the impression Ms Philips is a massive self-hater. Her chosen ‘look’ does little to disuade me from this view.

    1. Now, they ought to follow this up with getting rid of any of their so-called ‘journalists’ who engage in blatantly bigoted and fundamentally irrational attitudes to those who are unemployed in general and to to the longterm unemployed in particular – most of whom don’t willingly ‘choose’ to be unemployed like the Daily Moron thinks.

  18. Bill Cameron 21 Sep 2013, 5:41pm

If you read the whole article, she is not leaving the DM, her column is simply moving to another section of this deplorable rag. Why is Pink News even given space to this story about a hateful bigot?

  19. Keith in SALFORD 21 Sep 2013, 8:55pm

Wonder what she makes of Pope Sweetness and Light…?

  20. I work with mentally disturbed people and they are quite sane and well adjusted in comparison

  21. “She’s a crank – an Alex Jones like character who thinks Obama is an “Islamist agent” and that homosexuality “abnormal”. This is called “self-discrediting”.”

  22. ….she’s a real class twat, and does not understand about nature…even life….so she has to go…..
