US: Baseball player said he was questioned by teammates on why he joined NOH8 campaign with his wife
A US baseball player has said that players on his team questioned why he and his wife would appear in photographs for the NOH8 campaign.
Texas Rangers relief pitcher Robbie Ross and his wife Brittany appeared in a photograph for the campaign, which aims to promote marriage, gender and human equality and end homophobia.
“Being in sports, and being around all kinds of different people, you just want to accept everyone for who they are,” Robbie told Outsports.com.
“My wife Brittany and I are Christians, and we believe we as Christians should love everyone and show everyone love, and if this is the best way to do it, then we want to support them.”
The couple took their photographs during a recent road series in Anaheim, California. Ross said that some of his teammates questioned him on the decision to participate in the campaign, while others encouraged him to do so.
He said: “Who are we to judge anyone on anything?”
Ross said he had not played on a team with an openly-gay player, but that he and his wife have gay friends.
