I’m so sick of these closeted self-haters. To think in this day and age, people still believe in the devil. Their obsession with anal sex is more than revealing. Demented loon.

    1. He’s a total ignoramus, daft as a brush and I guess that explains how he became The Archbishop of Saint Paul and Minneapolis

    2. Don’t remember him speaking out about child abuse in his own church, did he?

Wasn’t satan one of gods own angels I seem to remember? So they created all this evil in the first place.

      1. Robert in S. Kensington 13 Sep 2013, 12:39pm

Yes, the so-called ‘fallen’ angel apparently. Equally daft.

    3. Lets assume that there is a war between Satan and the Holy Spirit going on here.

      1. The church hierarchy: spews hate, discord and ignorance; fires gay people from their jobs in schools (look at Totino-Grace school in Neinstedt’s archdiocese: 3 such cases in the last three years); undermines the self-esteem of young gay people (leading to increased suicide rates/despair); opposes anti-bullying legislation; abandons work with adoption because of equality legislation; some Catholic groups even sign up to support Putin.

      2. The majority of lay catholics in the US support equal marriage and many that don’t are still well disposed to their LGBT neighbours, friends and family; gay catholics seek to be open and honest about their loving and committed same-sex relationships rather than hiding and, perhaps, only having anonymous and short relationships.

Which of 1 or 2 sounds like the work of Satan? or which is more like the work of the Holy Spirit?

      It’s obvious to me!

    4. Wonder how many boys he molested thanks to celibacy. Just more proof thaht the churches claim to repsect the dignity of every human person is bull droppings

Note the Human Similar ideas to the nut job who murdered 100,000 gays in the holocaust

  2. Chester666676 12 Sep 2013, 5:56pm

He whinge about truth and then ignores it to spread homophobia, he should look at himself for an example of what evil is, evil is preaching hatred and bigotry and accepting discrimination

  3. When I want the opinion of a man in a wizard costume who believes in magic, I’ll ask Dumbledore.

    1. Brilliant response!

  4. And just who created Satan, and isn’t this deity supposed to have omniscience? So had complete foreknowledge of every single thing, thought and therefore consequence of his creation.
Ultimately his imaginary friend is responsible for everything, including ‘anal sex and same sex marriages’.

    1. floridahank 12 Sep 2013, 9:11pm

You have a very limited worldview of eternality and the meaning of existence. If you would be knowledgeable about the Angelic Conflict you would understand something more than living a short, materialistic, selfish life.
Just because you don’t believe in Satan doesn’t mean that in unrealized millennia past, things happened that were not recorded on this planet and only by deeper research than you’re capable of doing there is understanding of events billions of years ago.

      1. Could someone open a window please? The stank of BS from this post is making my eyes water…

One thing is universal in all faiths, from the extinct (Ra, Enki, Zeus, Odin etc) to the current crop of god fictions – No one has ever proven any of it to be true or contain any meaning whatsoever beyond a comforting little story for the easily frightened, a means of extorting the gullible and a method of controlling the weak.

      2. Yawn…..

      3. Still didn’t answer my simple question though did you? What? You’re going to ridicule my question, and not even answer it?
Maybe it’s because it raises a good point. One you can’t answer. Religion teaches you not to ask questions, but to follow on blind faith, so it makes sense that ‘answering questions is a foreign concept to you.
The fact remains, in your world view, your god created Satan. Your god also happens to have had full knowledge of every cause of action that will EVER occur. So who’s ultimately to blame? Satan? Or his creator, Yahweh?

      4. I think this fool talking in tongue cause either his ignorance extends to his lack of education – or he is possessed by one of his own superstitions demons lol –

        Evolve moron

      5. Mister Fister 13 Sep 2013, 4:18pm

Both you and the Archbishop are as daft as a brush. And besides, don’t Christians believe the world is several thousand years old?

  5. Michael Barber 12 Sep 2013, 6:01pm

Odd how the only evil I have ever encountered came from the religitards on this earth.

  6. Think I might just start worshipping Satan then; sounds like a decent bloke! I’m going to Hell anyway apparently, so…

  7. I honestly wonder what planet these people are from.
Do people really and truly believe all this bollox in this day and age?

  8. So who is responsible for the stick up his butt? Satan responsible for contraception? I would have thought Satan would want an even more overpopulated with even more disease, starvation and war.

  9. That There Other David 12 Sep 2013, 6:06pm

These Catholic Church Shamen committed and covered up child abuse for centuries.

If they want to find evil they don’t need to look outside their own numbers.

  10. And his dress sense !!

    1. Christopher in Canada 13 Sep 2013, 3:12am

      Difficult colour, fuschia…

  11. Obviously his problem is that he is a repressed gay fellow. Could not reconcile his gayness and his gay feelings with his Catholic faith. He will eventually find acceptance and his own self-worth in the non-judgmental love of Jesus.

I love my partner. My happiest moment was standing in front of our friends and declaring my love to him. Just because I’m a man and he’s a man doesn’t mean our love is worth less than anyone else’s. Love is love. It make you happy irregardless of gender. I would never ever want to deny anybody the emense pleasure I had sharing that moment with everybody I love.

    1. floridahank 12 Sep 2013, 9:23pm

Hey Joey, you said, “Obviously his problem is that he is a repressed gay fellow. Could not reconcile his gayness and his gay feelings with his Catholic faith.”
I keep hearing such remarks, and would appreciate knowing how you came about analyzing and recognizing his “hidden problem.” Do you do part-time psychiatry during off-hours?

        1. floridahank 13 Sep 2013, 1:37am

Hey Beel, I wouldn’t go into great detail, but I did find something to comment.
ARTICLE: The paper includes four separate experiments, conducted in the United States and Germany, with each study involving an average of 160 college students.
MY COMMENT: How was it determined to select these students? What were the criteria that they had to fill to be eligible? What type of personalities were they?
ARTICLE: The findings provide new empirical evidence to support the psychoanalytic theory that the fear, anxiety, and aversion that some seemingly heterosexual people hold toward gays and lesbians can grow out of their own repressed same-sex desires,
MY COMMENT: “….some seemingly heterosexual people …..” The category SOME is very weak to be a strong scientific statement. (My comment is continued, as it wouldn’t accept all of it)

          1. floridahank 13 Sep 2013, 1:41am

ARTICLE: Ryan says. The results also support the more modern self-determination theory, developed by Ryan and Edward Deci at the University of Rochester, which links controlling parenting to poorer self-acceptance and difficulty valuing oneself unconditionally.
MY COMMENT: If other experiments were run ” which links controlling parenting to poorer self-acceptance and difficulty valuing oneself unconditionally.” Could this be valid in having some persons turn towards homosexuality because of the same psychodynamics working in certain young men?
ARTICLE: . Students were shown words and pictures on a computer screen and asked to put these in “gay” or “straight” categories. Before each of the 50 trials, participants were subliminally primed with either the word “me” or “others” flashed on the screen for 35 milliseconds. They were then shown the words “gay,” “straight,” “homosexual,” and “heterosexual” as well as pictures of straight and gay couples, and the computer tracked precisely

          2. floridahank 13 Sep 2013, 1:45am

pictures of straight and gay couples, and the computer tracked precisely their response times. A faster association of “me” with “gay” and a slower association of “me” with “straight” indicated an implicit gay orientation.
MY COMMENT: What does subliminally primed mean in terms of a mental/psychological image? This study is so flawed with weakness that unless you studied each person afterwards to get a psychological profile of what their responses meant, this doesn’t prove anything, except that with certain men it “INDICATED an implicit gay orientation” because there was some sort of association with “me” and “gay” according to the examiner, who in reality has no deep psychological meaning as to what all this means in real life.
There’s so much unscientific usage in this experiment that shows nothing but specualation and I wouldn’t get your hopes high about closet homosexuality when people disapprove of homosexuality.

          3. Yo, Hank – you’re pretty dedicated to obsessively* trying to undermine the science referred to by others, how come you don’t expend your talents in doing the same to your Book, that which you accept so uncritically?

Tut tut – what chunks of your life you spend on a UK gay news website when you could be praising your god (as I believe Believers are supposed to do much if not most of the time)!

            * One could suggest you have a particular vested interest in doing so, though of course I would never suggest such a thing …

        2. floridahank 13 Sep 2013, 7:37pm

Hey Rehan…you said, “Tut tut – what chunks of your life you spend on a UK gay news website when you could be praising your god (as I believe Believers are supposed to do much if not most of the time)!”

I doing what the Scriptures tell me to do, as in Luke 9, “Then he called his twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. and he sent them to HEAL THE SICK.” and in Luke 10, “And HEAL THE SICK that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is nigh unto you.:
I send my message to the sick and not to the healthy. So pay attention because I connect with you.

          1. Hey Flo. Sadly, you’re not connecting with anything, let alone anything approaching intelligence.

But hey, whatever delusions keep you happy, sweetie.

          2. floridahank 15 Sep 2013, 6:34pm

Hey Reh. Work is still going on to see if there is a homo gene or a hetero gene. Since it hasn’t been found, the explanation of homosexual behavior is filled with unknown factors — the degree of inclination influenced by environmental, societal, family relationships, etc. all have to be considered in expressing homosexual activity.
Need much more scientific, medical, psychological studies to get better answers. Very interesting subject.

          3. Hey Ha. Why bother with science, medicine or psychology, since you have your Scriptures? Is the Word of your God not enough?Focus on that, and the purported ‘kingdom’ that you so quaintly believe is nigh (as have others for just under 2000 years), and leave living in the real world to us. You can spare us your unwarranted interference – though we are duly grateful for the offer, I’m sure.

      1. Two words: CARDINAL O’BRIEN!

        1. Why stop with Cardinal Keith O’Brien?
There’s a shedload more confirmed gay homophobes out there.

Bear in mind that this list is not exhaustive, and only counts those high profile homophobes who’ve either outed themselves or more often been caught out.
It’s also only been running since 2004.

Given all those restrictions, I’d say that’s a pretty good haul.
The plural of anecdote may not be data, but these anecdotes are sure piling up.

  12. Benjamin Bee 12 Sep 2013, 6:15pm

He has no intelligence to understand Mt 19, 12.

  13. Does he understand the difference between consensual anal sex and sodomy?

  14. FYI, sodomy is any form of sexual behaviour which does not result in procreation, not just bum drilling. Just so you know.

  15. Alright, who told him about our satanic conspiracy?

  16. Thank you Satan =D

  17. And was satam responsible when he had sex with that little boy?

  18. Real source of this news, please.

  19. John in Toronto Canada 12 Sep 2013, 7:08pm

If the success or survival of faith hinges upon heterosexual marriage, the “devil” won a long time ago and homosexuals had nothing to do with it.

  20. And WHO is responsible when HETEROS have anal intercourse?

(And many more of them do than the gays!)

    1. I certainly wouldn’t say many but only some do and it’s a relatively small percentage.

  21. It beggars belief (as it were) that in this day and age, in one of the most advanced societies on earth, you get a man of this prominence wittering on about ‘satan’.

I mean, it’s bad enough when the mad mullahs do it, but they at least often have the excuse of coming from less advanced cultures. But this? This is unforgivable. The man’s worse than a fool – I almost (almost) feel sorry for poor Catholic sods in Minnesota with such a buffoon at their helm.

    1. That’s the problem with these people, and much of the rest of the U.S. clergy. They often have advanced degrees, they are deeply educated, but ONLY in their own dogma. They know nothing else, as they make clear every time they speak.

Worse, they are suspicious and contemptuous of the things they don’t know, and expect others to respect their suspicions, and to follow suit.

  22. Pretended celibacy is responsible for turning Catholic clergy into sex obsessed freaks.

  23. Cheryl CC-E 12 Sep 2013, 7:30pm

I’d be interested to know how this church can maintain a tax exempt status with this Archbishop being so involved in politics, to the point of campaigning against marriage equality…and what about SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE??

  24. “The Devil made me do it!”
    Flip Wilson

  25. Robert (Kettering) 12 Sep 2013, 7:48pm

Well this Archbigot should know all about Satan, hasn’t he ever looked at all the death and misery caused to countless thousands of innocent people over the centuries in the name of his cult?!

  26. So god supports killing disobedient children, believes eating shelfish and mixing fabrics are an abomination, supports slavery, forbids interracial marriage, and orders the Israelites to commit genocide so they can inherit the promised land, and satan supports contraception, equal marriage and is pro choice, I’m sorry archbishop but isn’t satan supposed to be evil

    1. floridahank 12 Sep 2013, 9:33pm

Hey Kieran, can you show me that any of your statements apply to the New Testament, which took effect when God came in the form of Jesus Christ and gave us the present behavior that we are to follow? The Old Testament laws applied to the time when God was not on this earth and those laws only applied to those people and those times. Read the New Testament and get updated.

      1. Hey floridahank, can you show many one single bit of proof that your fairy tale god existed in the Old Testament or the New Testament or Today? Can you show me one single bit of historical proof, outside of your book of fairy tales and other books that were taken from it, that Jesus of Nazareth existed? I’m no more going to argue Old Testament and New Testament with you than I would argue with you over whether Zeus’ law was changed once his son Hercules was born and lived on earth. It’s bizarre to me that anyone of average intelligence would still be buying into this bronze age myth, or its 2.0 version, in 2013.

      2. hey florida hank, according to the gospel of mark a true believer can play with poisonous snakes and drink poison without ill effect. have you tried this ,or is it just b*llocks like the rest of your fairytale?

        1. floridahank 13 Sep 2013, 2:54am

Hey dor….When you read about miracles and unexplained events discussed in the Bible, what you’re referring to happened to the Apostle Paul, but those special abilities do not apply in today’s believers and they are not supposed to “challenge” God to perform such a thing. After the life of Jesus and the Apostles ended, we are only left with the Holy Scripture that will tell us how to live. God is not obliged to heal everybody of their illness or even that ever prayer will be answered in the way we want. God is not somebody’s gift-giver — He is sovereign and is in control of everything and He permits what He permits to happen — without having to explain anything. Faith is our answer.

          1. Yo, Flo – thanks for confirming that there’s no point to praying after all. Very revealing.

          2. ‘He is sovereign and is in control of everything and He permits what He permits to happen — without having to explain anything’

So he allows Satan to make people want gay sex and then we get punished for it?

      3. hold on, If the Old Testemant doesn’t matter to us, why are we always getting Leviticus quoted at us by street pastors and the like?

        1. floridahank 13 Sep 2013, 3:04am

The Old Testament and the New Testament are the words of God and tell us the history of man and of God. If a street preacher wants to use Scripture to make a point, then he’s telling the Truth. Everything from Genesis to Revelation is Truth but unless God reveals it to you, you will continue to be blind throughout your life. I pity you.

          1. What a load of delusional bollox. Go see a shrink!

          2. That’s good Flo, it makes it mutual at least since the nicer of us here pity you a great deal too.

      4. Floridahank, the only negative thing about men laying down with men is in the Old Testament. The New Testament does not mention us at all and Jesus never said a bad word about us, so you update yourself and stop using the Old Testament when it suits so you can express your hatred and bigotry.

        1. Romans 1:26-27
For this reason [idolatry] God gave them up to passions of dishonor; for even their females exchanged the natural use for that which is contrary to nature, and likewise also the males, having left the natural use of the female, were inflamed by their lust for one another, males with males, committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was fitting for their error. This is an New Testament verse which wrongfully condemns homosexual people, but you are righ jesuse himself did not speak on this subject of homosexuality he only wanted to spread love, not hate a good man in my eyes and I’m an atheist

          1. floridahank 13 Sep 2013, 1:55am

Hey Kieran…I am not a hater of homosexuality. My argument is with certain activists who try to overpower any and everybody with their actions. Many try to get the Holy Bible out of our society — some threaten churches if they give sermons on the sin of homosexuality. Some try to use our educational system to introduce books that go against the majority concept of man and woman marriage, and the use of father and mother in some stories.. Also, I definitely oppose the homosexual belief that “once gay, always gay.” That has not been proven to be a scientific fact. I’m almost at the end of my word usage count and will continue later.

          2. floridahank 13 Sep 2013, 2:05am

Hey Kieran: To the best of my knowledge there has never been a documented, scientifically accepted study that clearly shows how a human being’s sexual character develops. That is, there is no DNA, biological marker evidence that shows all that goes into developing one’s sexual being. Some researchers seem to think there’s some sort of fluidity in one’s sexual makeup during early years. Human sexuality is very complex and nobody has the final word as yet. I think that a heterosexual can turn into a homosexual with the proper circumstances and influences, and the same goes for homosexuals into heterosexuals — I believe that basically it depends on the strength of one’s inclinations and psychological pressures, etc. A very interesting study that needs much more work.

      5. Floridahank I apologise for any offence I might have caused, but you are correct these verses are all in the old Testamant, I am suggesting is that whether or not god demands or orders such atrocities there are always those who are willing to kill in his name and if the Old Testament is all lies why should you trust the new, also the New Testament is just like the old, a reflection of the time in which it was written and is used to terrorise the LGBT community, it also views women as lesser than men, I’m sorrry but the archbishop is merely doing what any bigot does, justify their irrational hate by hiding behind god.

  27. This guy is a complete idiot. Thank god I don’t believe in God if this is the kind of rubbish a so called ‘man of God’ comes out with.

  28. Verne Greenlee 12 Sep 2013, 8:47pm

The lowest number I have found that the Minnesota Archdiocese spent on the marriage amendment is about $750,000 USD. So what if it was contributed; it could have done a lot of charity. I firmly believe the passage for Gay marriage was, in part, a back-lash against the church’s flagrant waste of money. They should pay taxes if they want to influence our lawmakers on Constitutional issues. We do have separation of church and State. I have always said: “If God wanted men to f#@& each other, he would have given us a*%holes.”

    1. A marrige is a marriage. Let’s be clear, it is not “gay marriage” but rather marriage equality and within those parameters it may be called “same-sex marriage”. Let’s not inadvertently demean ourselves.

    2. A marrige is a marriage. Let’s be clear, it is not “gay marriage” but rather marriage equality and within those parameters it may be called “same-sex marriage”. Let’s not inadvertently demean ourselves.

P.S. We have 5 dioceses in Mn but the one to which you refer is the archdiocese of St.Paul and Minneapolis. It was $600,000 spent by AB Nienstedt.

      1. Verne Greenlee 13 Sep 2013, 8:54pm

I don’t find being gay and going to have a gay marriage at all demeaning. Let’s be clear, a rose is a rose and by any other name it’s still a rose. The information I found on the web, $700,000 was the lowest, I would have reported it be lower if I saw anything lower, as if this means anything. By the way, have you not enough courage to post your full name? Not doing it seems a bit shame-based to me.

  29. michaelandfred 12 Sep 2013, 9:03pm

    Nice dress……

  30. Iain Logan 12 Sep 2013, 9:39pm

He’s probably taken part in anal sex with a small underage altar boy at some point or other.

  31. Yeah, yeah, what ever you say Cardinal O’Bri…um, I mean Cardinal Nienstedt!

    1. He’s not a cardinal but a bishop. Our population in this region is not high enough to merit a cardinal.

  32. I think he’s looking in the wrong place for the “father of lies”, he would do well to look a little closer to home (with an R).

  33. Well we all know what is going on with this guy.

He has been up to some pretty perverted stuff and he is dumping on the gays to relieve his own guilt.

It is like kicking the cat when you are mad with yourself.

How many weeks will it be until we are reading about what he has been up to ?

He is a truly sad example of a man.

  34. “Satan” is one of the best safe guards the church ever created. He is their get out of jail free card – they can just attribute anything and everything that contradicts them down to him. A fool proof device…. for fools

  35. Godric Godricson 12 Sep 2013, 10:19pm

Bored now! Let the Archbishop go play with his little friends.

  36. MarKo Hubert 12 Sep 2013, 10:36pm

Let’s get it straith. gay marriage, sodomy, abortion, Contraception, and so on are all from Satan father of lies. what about child abuse by priests, bishops and cardinals? What about women dying during birth labor because they have listen to their priests and are having too much children? What about that american women in the 90th who killed her 5 children, drowning them because she had depression postpartum after her second child and because of the religion she and her husband get against all physicians’ advises to stop having children after the second one? That is evil too. So how this idiot can seriously make such non sense?

  37. Alfred Schram 12 Sep 2013, 10:53pm

I thought divorce was the dissolution of marriage, not marriage equality.

  38. Totally unacceptable! Slanderous hate speech is supposed to be illegal in the US. This delusional cultist, and anyone else who spreads this hate, should be arrested and put away.

    1. David Walsh 13 Sep 2013, 2:00am

I think that’s pretty extreme. It’s enough for them to be publicly villified, hated, laughed at and scorned, which is totally appropriate in this case.

    2. Problem is ‘Free speech’ in the US is guaranteed under the constitution, you can pretty much say whatever you like and it is protected by the 1st amendment.

      1. Robert in S. Kensington 13 Sep 2013, 12:51pm

Not all speech is guaranteed protection. There are certain things one cannot say without risk of arrest, prosecution or both, such as shouting ‘fire’ in a theatre or threatening the lives of politicians by implication or even insinuation as well as advocating violence. Further, religious clerics in America enjoy tax-exempt status provided they do not endorse any political candidate yet they craftily circumvent it by making general statements to their flock by telling them to vote against anyone (without naming them) who happens to support equal marriage or any other LGBTQI related equality they are in disagreement with, or even in matters of abortion and contraception affecting society at large. It’s a fine line they are walking but no American politician would even dare challenge any of them, much as most MPs in the UK wouldn’t either.

    3. There are few rules against speech in the USA, this is why the Westboro cult is allowed to protest at the funerals of military personnel and murdered children.

It’s a bit of a messed up situation, because the US doesn’t differentiate between hate speech when it’s attacking or insulting others, or anything more mundane. But, you can bet that if it were a Muslim on a street corner preaching violence, intolerance and hatred, those freedoms would be conveniently ignored and they would be arrested.

We have a far better system in the UK, where freedom of speech and opinion is upheld, but the right to not be a target of attack or insult is more important, and the right for a community to refuse such is also more important.

The rights of the many should always outweigh the rights of a few when it comes to freedom of opinion and when those opinions are considered a threat to, or an attack on, others.

  39. Oh, bish off. Silly drag queen.

    1. Ah…he’s bucking Cardinal- the drag is showier.

  40. We have recently been married in Seattle, after a 56 year “engagement”…Thank you Satan! Our 57th year begins on October 12th. maybe the clown bishop would like to come to our party.

  41. Sky a.k.a. JD Aeon 13 Sep 2013, 1:14am

Let’s remind Christians of the Inquisition how their mythology and their mythological characters were used to justify murdering children, women and men because they happened to pray for a different invisible man in the sky. Historically…

Bigotry, Fanaticism, Biases, Prejudices and Their Hatred Promoting Disinformation-Mongers have always hidden behind GOD, Big Mainstream Religions and the Governments who bed them…
    Behind COUNTRY/FLAG (Elite-Manipulated-Nationalism), behind raped, bought-off (Commercially/Politically-Corrected & Mainstream Religio-Sanitized) censored ACADEMIA…
    And finally, behind CHILDREN.
Human Beings at their very worst indeed – Shameful!

  42. Guys please don’t mock religion if a young gay or lesbian person seeking acceptance who they are and being ridiculed for what they believe and can’t find comfort with their own community who are they going to turn

    1. Dave North 13 Sep 2013, 2:50am

Religion does a good enough job of mocking itself.

We are merely holding up a mirror to it.

    2. Why not? is it sacred or something – Learn about the structure of this VILE Superstition, Kieran – that was solely developed to keep the masses in their place and to excuse the church’s Hypocrisy and bullying ways –
Gays only need Self belief and the a sense of self worth – we do NOT need outdated monstrous war mongering FICTION

      1. It’s called respect. Attacking each other is not discussion.

Satan is responible for creating this insufferable pain in the azz in female garb.

  44. This is MY Archbishop in St.Paul, Mn & you cannot imagine how much Catholics (gay & straight) in my diocese are suffering under his watch.

He spent $600,000 a yr go to fight FOR the proposed state constitutional amendment which would’ve permanently banned same-sex marriage in my home state. Minnesota became the first state out of 30 previous to defeat such a measure. We went on to pass marriage equality this pat spring. We got chutzpah!!

Two words can describe AB Nienstedt now: SOUR GRAPES

    1. I think it’s time for the people there to start openly calling for his removal. These men of “faith” are supposed to represent their people, and he’s clearly not doing that. He’s harming the state, harming the people, and harming the outward perception of his church.

Protest, get him out, make it clear that this guy is not representative of your state.
Unless people actually start shouting down these religious fanatics they’ll continue to do considerable damage. The actions and preaching of these people has the potential to harm all kinds of things from economy to education, from equality to security.

  45. You need to read your Bible, Bishop before opening your mouth, and then you need to stop your priests from abusing children before you start point a finger at the LGBT Community. The Roman Catholic Church (now called Catholic) has a lot to answer for so I suggest you either keep very quiet or come out as the gay man you are or you may go the way of Cardinal O’Brian

  46. Martin Gavet 13 Sep 2013, 7:36am

Sorry but is the same institution that owns Italy’s No.1 gay sauna?
Seems like Satan is controlling the Vatican if you use the Archbishop’s logic.
What a load of hocus pocus, from the world’s largest cult which has presecuted millions over the centuries, had them tortured and put to death. Christian? I think not.

  47. Only a few years ago such deluded mental defectives would have been taken into care in secure hospitals – he burbles on about evil forces, satan etc … does he also think fairies and goblins are poisoning his carrots at the bottom of his garden? He brings religion into even further disrepute with his delirious nonsense and makes his faith a laughing stock. So please do continue making yourself and your church utterly ridiculous Archbishop – you are doing the civilised world a favour.

Look at the prat a closet if you EVER saw one! HE is the one prompted by Satan with his hate & Lies. How can anyone respect the church ,when it is FULL of Morons like this dangerous IDIOT!

  49. The in-house uniform is certainly diabolical.

  50. lady tanya 13 Sep 2013, 9:08am

this world will never get any where as long as we have people like this who belive that we came from a god who looks down on us, they say that there god flooded the world because there was evil in the world ,,,,well shit there is more evi in this world now than there was 2.000 years ago so why has there god not done it again and most of the evil done in this world is done by people who belive in a god ,

  51. I guess this explains the whole, “Get thee behind me, Satan!” attitude.

  52. Hocus Pocus load of old rubbish! Religion really is a vile place to be a part of, and every time someone like this opens their mouth they make an even bigger hole for themselves to fall into. We let people like this run some of our schools!!!!! WTF! Time the big boot was given to the church on education and their voting rights in the House of Lords. An utter disgrace.

  53. Now it’s time to start looking at these radicals as a real threat. America (and the UK) needs to focus on the threat from the far-right and the religious Christian fanatics in our midst.

This threat is growing, with many Christian fundamentalists now openly claiming that they have to fight what they view as an attack on their right to attack others.

This guy should be under investigation.

  54. The church is losing control … not only of itself but of its followers. As the world becomes more educated, people cannot be bullied into ‘belief’ as they once were by mumbo-jumbo superstition and threats of god’s vengeance. Most rational people now see it all as the preserve of ‘the lunatic fringe’. We HAVE to fight back …as I was delighted to see Americans now doing against the VILE Westboro morona. The more of this sort of disgusting hatred they spew forth, the faster they’ll all disappear up their own anatomical part about which they seem so obsessed!

Satan! OMG, resurrecting that BS again!
Dude get a new writer with a new script. That fairy tale is totally worn out and outdated.

  56. Just a clarification — it was not a Catholic Church building that was vandalized for a third time, but a United Church of Christ (UCC) building — and I believe the perpetrator later said it was because of allowing same sex couples to wed there.

  57. Sky aka JDAeon 13 Sep 2013, 1:47pm

    Reading the news this morning…
I had to remind myself of what I’ve said, written and published many years ago –
Bigotry, Fanaticism, Biases, Prejudices and Their Hatred Promoting Dis-Information & Misinformation Mongers have always hidden behind GOD, Behind Big, Mainstream Religions and the Governments who bed them…
    Behind COUNTRY & FLAG ( Elite-Manipulated-Nationalism ), behind raped, bought-off (Commercially / Politically Corrected & Mainstream Religio-Sanitized, Censored & Compromised ) ACADEMIA…
    And finally, behind CHILDREN.
Yes, this is our Specie – Human Beings at their very worst indeed. Primitive, Unenlightened, Harmful, Wilfully Ignorant and Shameful

  58. Then HAIL SATAN! and is Lord Satan also responsible for heteros engaging in anal sex?

Odd isn’t it that this global lie (religion) and the church created satan as a useful excuse for all the dreadful things that occur in the world, Famine, war, genocide etc.

Do these people really think keeping the masses ignorant will protect their Vile Hateful LIES!

    1. Vince in Brighton 13 Sep 2013, 2:15pm

Move to RUSSIA :-/ you bigoted, silly old fool !!!

  59. johnny33308 13 Sep 2013, 2:18pm

So who then is responsible for heterosexuals marrying and having anal sex? The church? Hmmmmm…..Who then is responsible for the Catholic priests molesting thousands and thousands of children all over the world for a thousand years?

    1. “Thousands and thousands over a thousand years” is a goss exaggeration. It seems like more because of how it is reported.

  60. It’s not as simple as you may like it to sounds. This is not a politician that can be removed from office by the people clamoring and there is no impeachment in the church. It is complicated.

People have and are voicing plenty of opposition to AB Nienstedt and most effectively with the recent formation of the group Catholics for Marriage Equality which campaigned AGAINST his crusade which sought to permanently ban same-sex marriage (notice I didn’t say “gay marriage because there’s no such thing) in my state of Minnesota.

The strongest voice we have in the U.S. is at the ballot box! We spoke loud an clear by becoming the first state to defeat a ban on same-sex marriage, something 30 previous states were unable to do. We did it by talking to everyone we knew, family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, phone banks etc. Minnesotans United for All Families was a model campaign and has become known a the “campaign of conversations”.

  61. Separation of church and state only applies legally as far as the government goes. AB Nienstedt has the luxury of the first amendment to the U.S. constitution: the freedom of speech.

Now if you’re talking about preaching politics from the pulpit, that’s another matter but it has nothing to with the legality of separation of church and state to which you refer.

  62. mike baughn 13 Sep 2013, 9:38pm

So most of the Catholic church is full of priests abusing choir boys. Satan is in the ranks don’t you think?
