  1. Let me guess, the religious community will tell us that the petty criminality of gays in Russia comes about because of their being gay, not because of the near total rejection they suffer from society.
I am quite sure that the state is knowingly/unknowingly encouraging LGBT people to become criminal by having them fired from work thus forcing them to find less legal sources of income. By removing any protections under the law, thus forcing them to find ways to protect themselves through other means. Etc…
It is circular logic. Gays will end up being made criminals because the police don’t act on the crimes committed against them, & the law will protect gay people from abuse because more and more people are convinced that we are acting like criminals.

    1. Correction on the last sentence. ‘..the law will NOT protect gay people..’
I need to learn to proofread better.

Why does PInk News keep saying the law is controversial with gays? I mean, we all agree that the law is bad, so what’s the controversy?

  4. Unfortunately Putin’s government propaganda and anti-gay laws, including massive employment discrimination, have created a climate where LGBT people can be forced into criminality in order to survive and feed themselves. This is similar to Thailand where discrimination against trans people is rife and they are forced into prostitution or petty crime as employers will not hire them.

Once again : An extremely oversimplified article. When will this stop ? In Russia the gay community ( LGBTQ persons) amounts to somewhere between 7 and 10 million persons. Start thinking, friends !

Why does PinkNews cover everything Rupert Everett says? Some of his statements are good examples of internalized homophobia, which is alright to cover, and I’m not even against ‘random gay actor says xyz’ articles per se. But we see one about him like every month, what gives? I mean, who cares (about him in particular)?

He’s put his face and identity behind what he says. Have you? I haven’t yet either on Pink News, though I have on gaydar and Youtube… didn’t think it was important. Maybe it is.

    2. “I mean, who cares (about him in particular)?”

Not me, he’s just a burnt out old acid queen. Can we disown him?

      1. sadly he is right about this.
