Twitters lack of action on this is rather telling.

Any entry-level tech person could create a “report this” button within hours, to be rolled out within a week, with bug fixes to follow.

There is absolutely no excuse for Twitter not to have done this already, none at all.

It begs the question, what are they afraid of by implementing it?

They may be concerned about having to manually deal with a flood of tweets being reported, but this could be assisted by creating a filter to only show hashtags, thereby being able to scroll through them all to find offensive tweets. They can then be blocked and those using them investigated.

It’s time Twitter started spending some of its profits on being a responsible site. So far they have been able to get away with ignoring it, but no longer.

  2. I sincerely hope the authorities put the same effort into finding and punishing the culprit as they undoubtedly would do if this were racially motivated.
